Aswolk speelt Formule 1 parten, Ecclestone niet bezorgd

De aswolk boven Europa waardoor het vliegverkeer al dagen stil ligt heeft ook invloed op de Formule 1-wereld. Afgelopen weekend stond de Grand Prix van China op het programma en dat was voorlopig de laatste overzeese race. Het Europese seizoen begint nu.

Het materiaal en personeel zijn voorlopig echter veroordeeld tot een langer verblijf in Shanghai. Er gaan geen vluchten terug naar Europa. Teams zijn al druk op zoek naar alternatieven om de inventaris en werknemers naar Europa te brengen.

Bernie Ecclestone benadrukt dat de Grand Prix van Spanje van 9 mei niet in gevaar is. Alles zal wel goed komen. De Spaanse Grand Prix afblazen is niet aan de orde. Deze situatie zorgt bij iedereen voor problemen, maar we zullen een manier vinden om iedereen in Europa te krijgen.
