'Duitse Grand Prix gesneuveld op paar miljoen'

De gesprekken tussen Bernie Ecclestone en de Nürburgring over de organisatie van de Duitse Grand Prix in 2015 liepen spaak op een paar miljoen meer of minder. Dat vertelde voormalig Formule 1-coureur Hans-Joachim Stuck, tegenwoordig voorzitter van de Duitse motorsportbond DMSB.

Duitsland ontbreekt dit jaar op de Formule 1-kalender en dat is grotendeels de schuld van Ecclestone. Stuck zei op Servus TV: "Bernie heeft het mede dankzij Duitse autofabrikanten, Duitse sponsors en Duitse leveranciers zover geschopt. Maar hij laat de Grand Prix van Duitsland vallen over een kwestie van twee, drie miljoen."

Stuck was persoonlijk betrokken bij de onderhandelingen tussen de Nürburgring en de commerciële baas van de Formule 1. Ecclestone zou een goed aanbod afgewezen hebben. "Hij bracht het slechte nieuws in die typerende stijl van hem", aldus Stuck.

De meeste circuits hebben het moeilijk. Ze worden worden zwaar gesubsidieerd of gaan op de fles. Dan weet je wel waar je de echte schuldige moet zoeken. Ik heb het al 100 keer gezegd: Europese circuits moeten een samenwerkingsverband aangaan om te voorkomen dat zij tegen elkaar worden uitgespeeld... [Lees verder]

    Het was gewoon een vooropgezet plan van Bernie. Na zijn 'Duitse' boete van 100 miljoen euro zijn manier om Duitsland terug te pakken. Vervolgens verkoopt hij die race aan een ander land waar ze sowieso meer betalen en het is een win-win situatie voor hem.

    Wedden dat het méér was? Minder lijkt me bij Bernie erg onwaarschijnlijk... ;-)

    Verder niets om je druk over te maken. Volgend jaar staat die race echt wel weer op de agenda.

    Het is een tendens die je ziet in meer sporten, wie het kan betalen mag het zien (kijk oa naar de voetbal waar business seats de echte fans verdrukken).

    Risico is dat door het verliezen van de fans het de amusements waarde en de support schaadt en daarmee uiteindelijk de commerciele waarde. En dan valt het allemaal als een kaartenhuis in elkaar -> fans weg, commercie weg en dan heb je niks meer. Ik ben wellicht wat somber maar de F1 gaat behoorlijk die kant op door de circuits op basis van geld te verkopen ipv werkelijke interesse en daar bovenop het achter een decoder te stoppen. Tja en dan kun je niet meer pochen in een paar jaar met die fake televisiecijfers van 1 mld+ kijkers en miljoenen bezoekers. Mark my words binnen 5-10 jaar is de F1 volledig veranderd van een globaal miljoenenbal tot het ouderwetse relatief kleinschalige concept.

    Bernie Eikelsteen, persoonlijk verantwoordelijk voor de opkomst en ondergang van de F1 as we know it..............dat wordt zijn epitaph, lijkt me wel toepasselijk eerlijk gezegd ;)

Ik heb het al 100 keer gezegd: Europese circuits moeten een samenwerkingsverband aangaan om te voorkomen dat zij tegen elkaar worden uitgespeeld. Sterker: het heft in eigen handen nemen, de bende van Bernie eruit trappen, en een eigen op Europese serie opzetten, met als steekwoorden: betaalbaar, toegankelijk, publieksvriendelijk, groot startveld en qua snelheid minstens de gelijke van F1. Dan mag de rest van de wereld wat mij betreft het oude F1 hebben.

      Helemaal mee eens. Ik roep het al tijden: F1 heeft circuits nodig, circuits hebben geen F1 nodig. Dus laat Bernie maar zakken met zijn fee tot een niveau dat de organisator er in iedere geval niet bij in schiet. Nog beter, stel als circuit zelf een fee vast en laat Bernie maar betalen, daarna verdient hij er nog genoeg aan via allerlei tv-rechten etc.
