Hotelketen ziet brood in Formule 1 in Valencia

Multinational ARC Resorts Singapore heeft een ambitieus plan om een zes-sterren hotel inclusief golfbaan neer te zetten in Valencia. Het is dan ook de bedoeling dat de Formule 1 terugkeert in de Spaanse stad om het toerisme een impuls te geven en met het hotel inkomsten te genereren.

Volgens een artikel op ThinkSpain.com claimt ARC goede banden te onderhouden met de leiding van de Formule 1. De hotelketen zou bereid zijn om maar liefst 500 miljoen euro in een Grand Prix te investeren. ARC heeft ook zo'n 200 miljoen euro vrij gemaakt voor de bouw van het hotel.

Het bedrijf heeft alleen nog wel toestemming van de gemeente en lokale overheid nodig. ARC heeft een monumentaal pand op het oog in de haven waar de start van zeilevenement America's Cup plaats vond. Niet geheel toevallig is dat ook het gebied waar een paar Formule 1-races georganiseerd zijn.

Valencia was van 2008 tot en met 2012 namelijk gastheer van de Europese Grand Prix. In de plannen van ARC keert de Formule 1 eens in de twee jaar terug naar Valencia. De Grand Prix zou dan gaan rouleren met een ePrix, een Formule E-race, in de Spaanse stad.

Ik vind 't wel jammer dat het circuit van de kalender af is. Niet om de geweldige races, maar vond t altijd een leuk circuit om op te rijden in de F1 games :P

      Ik vond het altijd een spannende race.
      Niet om de race zelf maar om de dames op de balkons die de regie altijd liet zien.

    Mooie baan om naar te kijken, leuk om op te racen (virtueel) en voor mij was de race in 2012 een van de meest enerverende races die ik heb gezien in de afgelopen jaren (beetje Canada 2011 achtig).

    Misschien kunnen er nog wat aanpassingen worden gedaan om inhalen te bevorderen, zou niet al te moeilijk moeten zijn.
