'Moderne F1 draait om geleidelijke vooruitgang'

Het is in de hedendaagse Formule 1 onmogelijk om van de ene op de andere dag een enorme sprong voorwaarts te maken. Die boodschap draagt Eric Boullier, racing director bij McLaren, uit. Daarmee tempert hij de verwachtingen rondom het nieuwe pakket voor Spanje.

Boullier deelde aan de Spaanse krant El Confidencial mede: "Elke stap vooruit is mooi meegenomen. We mogen geen rekening houden met een grote sprong. In de moderne Formule 1 is het meer een kwestie van geleidelijke vooruitgang."

De achterkant van de McLaren MP4-30 ondergaat een metamorfose voor Barcelona en partner Honda introduceert bij de volgende Grand Prix een verbeterde aandrijflijn. Daarmee hoopt de Britse renstal door te dringen tot de middenmoot en de eerste punten van het jaar te scoren.

    Ik vind anders dat McLaren al een mooie sprong vooruit heeft gemaakt dit seizoen. Natuurlijk: hoe groter je achterstand, hoe gemakkelijker het is om die een stuk in te lopen.

      Helemaal mee eens. Ik ben echt blij om te zien dat er iedere race goede progressie in de auto zit. Zodra Honda het vertrouwen qua betrouwbaarheid heeft gevonden wordt dit team een serieuze concurrent. Zowel McLaren en Honda hebben het budget en de mankracht om ervoor te gaan.

      Ja want het is echt tof om kleine teams van de grid te zien verdwijnen omdat ze met een budget van 80 miljoen niet mee kunnen draaien. Er is sowieso geen engine freeze gaande en de kostenbesparing is juist datgene dat de formule 1 weer op poten kan zetten.

    Ze moesten bij het begin van het seizoen 100pk inleveren tov Mercedes volgens meerdere bronnen, ze moeten 130 extra pk's boven toveren om echt terug in de stijd te kunnen gaan en ze zijn er nog niet in de verste verte... Het zou al knap zijn zouden ze na de zomer-break in de top 5 zitten

      komt eerder door het feit dat TR / Red Bull / FI / McL enzo behoorlijk worstelen momenteel, zodra deze teams de zaken weer voor elkaar hebben is Sauber weer veroordeeld tot de achterhoede (waar ze thuis horen)
