Wurz eens met Sauber over kosten van motoren

Oud-coureur Alexander Wurz, voorzitter van rijdersvakbond GPDA, heeft zich achter Sauber-teambaas Monisha Kaltenborn geschaard. Zij verkondigde eerder dat het allemaal leuk en aardig is dat voor 2017 weer aan de motorformule gesleuteld wordt, zolang de klantenteams maar niet opdraaien voor de ontwikkelingskosten.

Wurz is het daar helemaal mee eens. "Ik moet zeggen dat ik het standpunt van Sauber volledig steun. De eerste regel bij nieuwe motorreglementen zou een maximale prijs voor klantenteams moeten zijn om de levensvatbaarheid te garanderen. We moeten paal en perk stellen aan de jaarlijkse kosten voor een aandrijflijn, anders zijn de klantenteams vooral bezig om de Formule 1-activiteiten van autofabrikanten te financieren."

Mark Gallagher, voorheen bij Cosworth verantwoordelijk voor de Formule 1-motoren, geeft een aardig inkijkje in hoe de huidige regels tot stand zijn gekomen. "In 2010, 2011 stelde Cosworth al een limiet voor de prijs van motoren voor klantenteams voor. Geen van de autofabrikanten voelde daar wat voor. De reglementen, kosten, het geluid zijn begin 2011 bepaald, zonder dat de teams daar enige invloed op uit konden oefenen. Bernie Ecclestone is ook niet geraadpleegd over de reglementen of de kosten. Hem treft geen blaam."

Mee eens Erwinnaar ! Het ergste is nog... Het is bekend in F1 dat een heel grote groep fans (zoniet de ruime meerderheid) er zo over denkt, maar men roep wat loze opmerkingen om de fans zoet te houden met een dode mus, en gaan gewoon door op de huidige manier.

    Het is eigenlijk ook echt te triest voor woorden dat de motor van Cosworth niet gebruikt wordt, aangezien deze niet alleen een super strak geluid heeft, maar ook nog eens een goedkopere 4 cilinder was. De Jaguar CX75 reed daarmee rond in haar testfase en dat klonk bruut, zelfs met de dempers erop. Zonde dat ze de formule eigenlijk niet opengooien om dmv innovatie iig klantenteams een keuze te geven.

      Het is te triest voor woorden hoe er nu wordt omgegaan met de motoren sowieso. De fans is niets gevraagd om te veranderen met als gevolg weglopen van fans of interesseverlies van fans.

      Mijn interesse in de sport is er nog mede door Nederlands talent Max Verstappen.

      Om nou te zeggen: ik ga eens even fijn naar die brute auto's kijken en luisteren, nee. Die verbeelding is netjes de nek omgedraaid mede door die huidige motoren.

      Zo hoor je de laatste tijd ineens 1000pk en brede banden voorbij komen, of zelfs V8 met KERS en 1000 pk..

      Er gaat ook niets veranderen, want ze worden het er nooit eens met elkaar.

    Egoistische wereld, iedereen denkt in het belang van zijn eigen maar niet aan het gezamelijk belang van een levensvatbare F1.

      Dat is inderdaad het hele probleem. Oplossingen genoeg, maar men wilt het niet eens worden met elkaar, en iedereen wast zijn handen in onschuld en kijken de andere kant op. De doorsnee fan kan al zien wat er aan de hand is, maar het stelletje wereldvreemde in F1 steken hun koppen in het zand

    Ben tegen al die beperkende regeltjes. F1 moet het toppunt zijn van technisch vernuft en gedurfde ontwerpen. Denk nog wel eens met weemoed terug aan de Tyrell met 6 wielen, de huilende V12 Ferrari motoren...

      Precies, een bedrijf die laat zien wat het zou kunnen wat betreft bijzonder, apart, leuk voor fans maar niet bereikbaar voor normaal gebruik. Wat Mugen met die Honda deed was prachtig, wat een geluid maakte die Mugen Honda's. Je had er geen ruk aan maar met die intentie zaten de fans destijds op de banken ook niet, die willen snelheid, geluid horen, zien en ruiken.
