DTM omarmt twilight-concept voor enkele races

De organisatie van de DTM is van plan om sommige races laat in de middag of vroeg in de avond te laten beginnen. Dan gaat het om de wedstrijden die op zaterdag ingeroosterd staan. Een DTM-weekend bestaat sinds dit jaar uit twee races.

Voor enkele zaterdag-races omarmt men dus waarschijnlijk het in de Formule 1 reeds beproefde twilight-concept, in de schemering bij ondergaande zon. Dat wil de DTM toepassen op de ronden die in de maanden dat de Duitse voetbalcompetitie stil ligt plaats vinden, zoals de Lausitzring, de Norisring, Zandvoort en de Red Bull Ring.

DTM-baas Ulrich Fritz deelde aan Autosport mede: "Het is niet alleen belangrijk om veel toeschouwers ter plekke te hebben, maar ook om hoge kijkcijfers te scoren. Wat betreft de late starttijd, dat kan het geval zijn bij een aantal races. Niet bij alle races, het is ook afhankelijk van het schema van uitzendgemachtigde ARD, maar het doel is wel om een paar keer een late race te hebben."
