Culturele verschillen McLaren en Honda vervagen

McLaren en Honda hebben in de eerste maanden van dit jaar enorme stappen gezet in hun onderlinge werkrelatie. Dat stelt racing director Eric Boullier. De Britse renstal en de Japanse autofabrikant hebben een succesvol verleden samen, maar de hernieuwde samenwerking begon stroef. McLaren-Honda scoorde nog geen punten in 2015.

Boullier deelde aan Autosport mede: "Er waren grote culturele verschillen, maar die beginnen te vervagen. Het was meer dat McLaren de strategie en de toewijding van Honda moest begrijpen en dat diende te integreren in onze wereld dan dat we van hen verwachtten dat ze zich onze cultuur eigen zouden maken. Het was aan ons om meer richting hen te bewegen en langzaam maar zeker begint dat zijn vruchten af te werpen."

"Het is bijvoorbeeld interessant om te zien hoeveel de trackside operations zijn verbeterd sinds de start van het seizoen. Dat gaat nu echt heel goed. De leercurve is zeer steil. Dat geldt ook voor Honda. Regelmatig gaan mensen van ons op bezoek in Sakura of komen zij naar ons in Woking. Het wederzijdse begrip kost tijd, maar duidelijk is dat de verwachtingen die wij hebben en de verwachtingen die zij hebben steeds meer overeen komen. Dat is goed."

  Verder zijn naar verluid alle toiletten in WOKing naar de Japanse maatstaven aangepast, dus poepen ze daar voortaan met kontverwarming, waterstralen, droogblaasstralen en weet ik wat nog meer in weelde.
  
  En dat McLaren van de week nog naar buiten bracht dat vooruitgang boeken in de huidige F1 een kwestie van tijd en (veel) geduld is komt ook door de Japanse invloed waar slapen op het werk heel normaal schijnt te zijn. Want dat mag daar niet alleen maar in dat ene bed op dat ene kantoor, maar overal waar je maar een lekker tukkie kan vangen. Dat Ron Dennis geen steek verder komt zal er dus wel mee te maken hebben dat er steeds iemand op zijn bureau ligt te maffen.

  Er is ook overal een verhoogde vloer aangebracht. Iedereen moet zn schienen uit en schuifelt op slofjes door het pand. Alonso heeft overal op de wanden samuraispreuken aan laten brengen en de dag wordt begonnen met kata's in groepsverband.

  Haha die fugo is goed. Dat was na de eerste dag. Iedereen moest elkaars kogelvis proberen om de vertrouwensband te versterken. Alonso had de fugo die door Ron Dennis was gefileerd :)

Veel vertrouwen in de Japanners, die weten exact wat ze doen. Ik vind het al knap dat ze die complexe motor zo gekoeld hebben gekregen. Rear-end is ultra dun.
