McLaren kan pas in 2017 gooi naar de titel doen

Het team van McLaren heeft waarschijnlijk nog zeker anderhalf jaar nodig om de achterstand op de top ongedaan te maken. Dat verklaarde racing director Eric Boullier in de New York Times. Pas vanaf eind 2016, begin 2017 mogen we McLaren vooraan verwachten.

Boullier: "We kunnen dit jaar nog competitief worden. Volgend jaar zullen we op regelmatige basis nog competitiever zijn. Voor het einde van volgend seizoen zullen we weer om de prijzen meedoen. Het is die anderhalf jaar die gemist hebben met Honda die we in moeten halen."

"Ik weet wat er achter de schermen gaande is. De auto zelf is nog geen winnende auto, maar daar komt op korte termijn verandering in. Onze motorenpartner groeit ook naar volwassenheid toe en weten dat we sterker worden. McLaren komt terug, maak je daar maar geen zorgen over."

Met de beperkte tokens die je in mag zetten nu en volgend jaar, denk ik dat je met een conservatieve aanpak achter de feiten was blijven aanlopen. Als je dan nog kracht te kort komt moet je dat d.m.v. updates gaan forceren, dan loop je de kans dat het volgend seizoen verloopt zoals bij Renault nu... [Lees verder]

    Daar begint het indekken al hoor. Blijf erbij het is niet alleen de honda pu die niet genoeg presteerd. Mclaren heeft ook weer teveel snufjes en risico genomen met het chassis. Nogmaals en dat heb ik al vaker genoemd, ze hadden in mijn ogen eerst moeten kiezen voor conservatieve auto ipv het hyper moderne geval wat het nu is. Arrogantie om te denken dat de honda pu even het verschil ging maken zoals eind jaren 80 is gewoon lachwekkend. Ze hebben gewoon Mercedes, Ferrari en Renault afgebeeld als wij kunnen dat veel beter alsof de anderen hebben liggen slapen. Eerst was het op de helft van het seizoen, toen einde seizoen en nu alweer een jaar later. Lekker geloofwaardig ben je Eric, jullie hadden gewoon niet zo moeten blazen vooraf en misschien betere de underdog positie moeten nemen zoals Ferrari dat braaf gedaan heeft dan kan het altijd meevallen. Ik ben geen fan van Alonso maar dit is toch te pijnlijk om aan te zien. Die gaat gewoon roemloos de F1 uit op deze manier.

      De winter periode doet ze nu de das om.
      Dit artikel gaat over het behalen van titels, ik kan niet geloven dat Mclaren ooit heeft gezegd dat ze die dit seizoen gaan binnen halen, laat staan halverwege. Competief wil niet gelijk zeggen dat ze voor titels gaan.
      De beloofde overwinningen zie ik overigens voir dit seizoen ook niet gebeuren, al sluit ik het als fan zijnde (nog) niet uit.

    Honda heeft veel risico genomen met deze motor. Ze wilden net als Merc een turbo die gespleten is, maar gingen nog een stap verder. Ze moesten door het ranke ontwerp van de mclaren de turbo onderdelen in de V van de motor kwijt en in plaats van een grote fan heeft men er vier kleine gebruikt. Dat genereert veel hitte, maar door het ontwerp van de auto is de ruimte te klein en raakt de boel snel over verhit. Autosport heeft er een mooi inside artikel over.

      Dit wordt het derde, met toch nog 2 podia plus al wat nog komen gaat dit seizoen :).
      Ik denk dat door de samenwerking met Honda, Alonso en andere nieuwe persooneelsleden de sfeer en wil om naar voren te geraken zeer sterk is nu, aleen moet het nu wel snel beter gaan.

    McLaren wint dit jaar de Grand Prix van Monaco. Eentje die de boeken in gaat in het rijtje. Australië`95, Monaco`96, Spa`98, Europa`99.

    Brawn GP was in het eerste jaar meteen kampioen en RedBull en Mercedes hebben er meerdere jaren over gedaan. Maar ik had (als Honda fan) echt niet verwacht dat ze zo slecht zouden beginnen.

      Brawn GP werd kampioen omdat ze iets hadden wat niemand had ( dubbele diffusor). Daar is nu geen sprake van.

      McLaren kwam toch als eerste met de F-duct? En nog verder terug in de geschiedenis een 3de rem-pedaal?
      Zoiets kunnen ze zo maar weer vinden/bedenken, maar dat is a) niet van te voren te voorspellen en b) moet zo'n vinding binnen de regels blijven, anders wordt het toch weer verboden door de FIA.
