Het team van Williams heeft over vorig jaar dieprode cijfers geschreven. De Britse renstal leed in 2014 een verlies van 34,5 miljoen pond, omgerekend meer dan 45 miljoen euro. Williams is er echter zeker van dat de financiële resultaten over dit jaar veel beter zullen zijn.

De inkomsten daalden vorig jaar namelijk van 130 miljoen pond naar 90 miljoen pond, maar door de goede sportieve prestaties ontvangt Williams voor 2015 een groter deel uit de televisiepot. Over 2013 had het team nog een winst van 11,9 miljoen pond geboekt.

Mike O'Driscoll, directeur van de Williams Group: "De financiële cijfers van 2014 reflecteren de sportief magere voorgaande drie jaren, waardoor onze inkomsten uit de commerciële rechten en sponsoring achteruit zijn gehold. Daar kwamen vorig jaar extra kosten bij door de verhuizing van de Advanced Engineering-afdeling."

"Onze sterk verbeterde sportieve prestaties in 2014 zullen zich voor 2015 vertalen in meer inkomsten uit de commerciële rechten en sponsoring, aangevuld door betere resultaten van de Advanced Engineering-divisie. De ambitie voor dit jaar is om de stijgende lijn voort te zetten en de fundering te leggen voor sportief en commercieel succes in de toekomst."
