Sepang vraagt overheid om 38 miljoen euro voor renovatie

Het circuit van Sepang is dringend aan een renovatie toe. De faciliteiten van de gastheer van de Grand Prix van Maleisië laten elf jaar na de oplevering van de baan te wensen over. Daken van tribunes lekken en het circuit kampt met elektrische problemen.

Dat liet circuitdirecteur Razlan Razali al voor de editie van dit jaar weten en nu geeft hij tegenover persbureau AFP aan wat hij nodig heeft om de boel op te knappen. Ik hoop in de komende vijf jaar 180 miljoen ringgit (38 miljoen euro) bij de overheid los te weken om een grondige renovatie uit te voeren.
