Ferrari onder vuur voor test zonder racecoureurs

Het team van Ferrari heeft in tegenstelling tot de concurrenten besloten om geen beroep te doen op de vaste racecoureurs voor de test in Barcelona. De Scuderia doet het deze week in Barcelona met talent Raffaele Marciello en testrijder Esteban Gutierrez.

Daar is het gezaghebbende Gazzetta dello Sport zeer kritisch over. "Het is moeilijk te begrijpen waarom Ferrari deze kans om te testen niet serieus neemt", staat in de roze sportkrant. "Sebastian Vettel en Kimi Raikkonen hadden met hun ervaring een waardevolle bijdrage kunnen leveren in deze fase van de ontwikkeling."

"Het is een verspilde mogelijkheid, helemaal als je ziet dat Mercedes, Red Bull, Williams en McLaren wel met Rosberg, Kvyat, Massa en Button testen. De enige plausibele verklaring is dat de keuzes van Ferrari zijn bepaald door verplichtingen in het contract met Gutierrez."

    Het hangt er natuurlijk helemaal vanaf wat Ferrari van plan was om te gaan testen en of de feedback van de Vettel/Kimi daarin veel waardevoller zou zijn dan die van Marciello/Gutierrez.

    Ik denk dat ze dat prima kunnen inschatten bij Ferrari ;-)

    Ik moet de krant hierin gelijk geven! Ik stond er ook van te kijken dat zij 'onervaren' rijders laten rijden in plaats van de reguliere rijders. Deze kennen de wagen als geen ander en kunnen ook aangeven of een update naar behoren werkt of niet. Volkomen onbegrijpelijk!!

    Gutierrez zit volgens mij veel in de simulator, wat weer een handig hulpmiddel is om updates te testen als deze simulator goed werkt. Daarom kan het veel opleveren wanneer de simulator coureur ook in de echte auto kan rijden en zo het verschil goed weet. Daarnaast, beide racen al heel lang en misschien is het Ferrari meer om de data te doen dan om wat de rijder ervan vindt. Snap niet dat ze hier een probleem moeten maken, Ferrari gaat echt niet kansen laten liggen om het gat met Mercedes te dichten.

      Idd. Volgens mij is het geeneens een slecht idee om tests te laten uitvoeren door de echte testcoureurs, nl. die gasten die uren, dagen en weken in de sim doorbrengen.

      Teams zijn daarnaast ook verplicht om minstens 1 dag een 'rookie' te laten rijden tijdens dit soort testen. En het is nog eens goed mogelijk dat er in Gutierrez zijn contract een minimum aan rijtijd is verzekerd...
