Stroperige ontwikkeling van Williams een mythe

Het verhaal dat Williams in de ontwikkelingswedloop niet kan wedijveren met de topteams berust niet op waarheid. Dat stelt engineer Rob Smedley. "Er circuleert al achttien maanden een mythe in de paddock dat de ontwikkeling van Williams stroperig en traag verloopt."

Hij vervolgt: "In Spanje hebben we andermaal het tegendeel bewezen met de upgrades die we daar introduceerden. We hebben het niet aan de grote klok gehangen, maar de nieuwe onderdelen werkten goed. Er zit nog veel meer in de pijplijn, inclusief wat kleine dingetjes voor Monaco. We hebben een constante stroom aan updates, we hebben alle reden om positief te zijn."

"Ik ben heel tevreden over hoe het team opereert. Ik voel me veel meer op mijn gemak dan toen ik net kwam. We hebben een competente groep samengesteld die naar elkaar toe is gegroeid en steeds sterker wordt. Het is een jonge groep, qua volwassenheid hebben we onze piek zeker nog niet bereikt. Ik zie veel potentie, dus ik ben een gelukkig man."

Helemaal eens met bovenstaand stuk. Williams heeft vorig jaar maar ook dit jaar laten zien dat ze zelfs meer dan gemiddeld mee kunnen komen.     Helemaal eens met bovenstaand stuk. Williams heeft vorig jaar maar ook dit jaar laten zien dat ze zelfs meer dan gemiddeld mee kunnen komen. Laat iedereen zich maar een focussen op Lotus, Sauber en McLaren dat zijn teams die het toch behoorlijk laten liggen. Tevens laat Red Bull veel steken vallen sinds Newey een stap terug heeft gedaan.

    Toch denk ik als Williams weer mee wil doen om de titel, ze een works deal met een motorfabrikant moeten hebben. Maar welke...? Anders zullen ze denk ik hoogstens eens een aantal wedstrijden winnen. Ze kunnen dan het ontwerp van de motor en de auto beter op elkaar afstemmen.

      renault misschien? Als red bull toch gaat stoppen met renault, zou het goed zijn om de legendarische Williams renault terug te zien :-)

      Williams is heel erg happy met Mercedes en Mercedes is heel erg happy met Williams. Waarom zouden ze nu dan overstappen naar Renault? Uiteraard denk ik dat Williams een fabrieks deal moet hebben maar dat kan ook met Mercedes indien het fabrieks team wellicht in de toekomst verkocht gaat worden.

      Natuurlijk wil Williams nu niet over stappen.

      Probleem van Williams is wel dat ze veel te vaak (moesten) wisselen.
      Wat hebben ze gehad sinds 2005, BMW, Toyota, Cosworth, Renault en Mercedes.
