ART Grand Prix sluit promotie naar de F1 niet uit

GP2-renstal ART Grand Prix zou in de toekomst de stap naar de Formule 1 kunnen maken. Dat gerucht ontstond vorige week vanwege de link met McLaren-Honda en de studie naar het toestaan van klantenauto's in de koningsklasse van de autosport. Nicolas Todt, mede-eigenaar van ART, vindt het te vroeg om op dat scenario in te gaan, maar hij sluit niks uit.

Todt vertelde aan Motorsport.com: "Ik heb eigenlijk geen commentaar op hetgeen is aangekondigd voor de Formule 1. De Formule 1 betreden is echter zeker iets dat wij als ART Grand Prix kunnen en zullen overwegen, zolang het totaalplaatje ons bevalt. Daarvoor moeten alle puzzelstukjes op de juiste plek vallen."

Nicolas Todt is de zoon van Jean Todt, de president van de internationale autosportbond FIA. Naast het runnen van ART Grand Prix heeft Todt junior het ook druk met het behartigen van de belangen van diverse coureurs, waaronder Williams-coureur Felipe Massa en Lotus-rijder Pastor Maldonado.
