Haas F1 Team wil grensverleggend te werk gaan

Nieuwkomer Haas F1 Team moet zich niet te conservatief opstellen voor het debuutseizoen in de Formule 1 in 2016. Dat is de boodschap die Rob Taylor, ontwerper bij de Amerikaanse renstal, in gesprek met Autosport uitdraagt. Haas smeedde een connectie met Ferrari en besteedde de totstandkoming van het chassis uit aan Dallara.

Taylor: "We gaan niet conservatief te werk. We zijn een raceteam, we gaan ons best doen en willen grenzen verleggen. Natuurlijk in combinatie met het besef dat we niet wensen te struikelen, de finish moeten halen en goed dienen te presteren. De middenmoot is het eerste doel. We leggen de lat niet te hoog, maar we zijn wel ambitieus. We moeten wel iets hebben om naartoe te werken."

"Ik ben bekend met de reputatie van Dallara. Ze hebben de afgelopen jaren voornamelijk onder non-competitieve omstandigheden geopereerd en ze kijken ernaar uit om zich in een competitieve omgeving met anderen te meten. Ze zijn klaar voor de uitdaging en met de middelen die tot hun beschikking staan plus de aandrijflijn van Ferrari zijn wij in staat om een goede auto te produceren."

    "De middenmoot is het eerste doel. We leggen de lat niet te hoog, maar we zijn wel ambitieus."

    De middenmoot in een eerste jaar is al behoorlijk hoog gegrepen lijkt me. Ik hoop het van harte. 22 auto's in de middenmoot is het mooiste :D.

      Mee eens, en ik vrees dat ze na 2-3 jaar weer stoppen wegens gebrek aan succes.

      Ze heten niet allemaal Toyota. Teams als Williams en Sauber draaien al een hele tijd mee.
      En met een goede motor achterin, is niets onmogelijk. Althans, dat kunnen zij nu gaan
      bewijzen in de F1. Ben ontzettend benieuwd hoe de eerste testen er uit zullen gaan
      zien in de volgende wintertesten.

    Alles ziet er goed uit voor Haas, behalve de reputatie van chassis-leverancier Dallara. Dat kon nog wel eens de bottleneck in het gehele succesverhaal worden.

      Kijk, die twijfels over het dallara chassis wou ik mijn bericht ook al plaatsen maar heb het weggelaten wegens onvoldoende kennis van dallara. Ik ken ze eigenlijk alleen uit competities waarin 1 á 2 verschillende chassis' meededen.

      Ik ben ook benieuwd naar de eerste testen.

    Ben benieuwd. Heb echt geen idee of zij het zoveel beter gaan doen dan die andere kleinere teams van de laatste jaren. Tijd brengt raad.
