'Kritiek Dennis op Boullier was grappig bedoeld'

De kritische opmerkingen van McLaren-baas Ron Dennis aan het adres van racing director Eric Boullier waren humoristisch bedoeld. Dat stelt een woordvoerder van de Britse renstal nadat in de Daily Mail uitgelekt was dat Dennis zijn rechterhand in de nabespreking in Spanje had aangepakt.

De grote baas van McLaren zei dat Boullier een schop onder zijn kont had gehad. Dennis snauwde ander personeel ook toe dat ze harder moesten werken. McLaren staat na vijf Grands Prix in 2015 nog met lege handen en dat is de trotse Dennis een doorn in het oog.

Volgens een woordvoerder moeten we de uitspraken van Dennis met een korrel zout nemen. "De citaten zijn uit hun context gehaald, ze waren grappig bedoeld. De retoriek van Ron is soms uitdagend, maar altijd inspirerend. Hij waardeert het harde werk in Woking en Sakura. Samen met Eric werkt hij aan structurele en operationele veranderingen om McLaren-Honda terug naar de top te helpen."
