Vader Bianchi: "Herstel van Jules is gestagneerd"

Jules Bianchi heeft de laatste tijd weinig vorderingen geboekt in zijn herstel. Dat verklaarde zijn vader Philippe in gesprek met Canal Plus. Bianchi liep bij een zwaar ongeval tijdens de Japanse Grand Prix van vorig jaar ernstig hoofdletsel op en vecht sindsdien in het ziekenhuis voor zijn leven. Daarover valt weinig positiefs te vertellen, bekent zijn vader.

Philippe Bianchi: "Jules leeft nog, dat is het belangrijkste voor ons. Hij knokt met de wapens die tot zijn beschikking staan, maar ik weet niet of er neurologisch nog heel veel mogelijk is. Om hem te zien strijden geeft zijn naasten veel kracht, dat is voor ons van belang. Zolang er leven is, is er hoop, al is het na zo'n lange periode wel hopen op een wonder. Het is heel zwaar."

"De situatie is gestagneerd. De neurologische progressie is niet wat we graag zouden willen zien. Elke ochtend worden we wakker met gedachten aan het leven van Jules, maar ook aan zijn dood. Daar moeten we aan denken, we bevinden ons in een situatie dat het een mogelijk scenario is. Het is verschrikkelijk. Maar we moeten hoop blijven houden."
