'Klantenauto's kunnen einde betekenen van pay-drivers'

Met de eventuele komst van klantenauto's in de Formule 1, kan er een einde worden gemaakt aan betalende coureurs in de sport. Dat zegt Bernie Ecclestone in Monaco. Teams zouden door een chassis te kopen genoeg geld besparen om 'echte' rijders aan te trekken.

Ecclestone legt zijn uitspraak uit: "Stel je voor: twee wagens worden in januari geleverd voor ongeveer vijftien miljoen dollar. Zelfs de kleinste teams krijgen ongeveer vijftig miljoen dollar aan inkomsten, dus dat betekent dat ze vijfendertig miljoen dollar overhebben voor andere uitgaven."

"Ik wil dat teams kunnen meedoen voor ongeveer zeventig miljoen dollar, en het leeuwendeel van dat bedrag krijgen ze al van ons. Wanneer dat gebeurt hoeven ze geen coureur te zoeken die alleen maar geld met zich meebrengt, maar kunnen ze talentvolle rijders aantrekken. Dit zal resulteren in meer nieuwe coureurs én rijders met meer talent."

    Het is en blijft een echte verkoper die graag de voordelen naar voren brengt. Dat er ook nadelen aan zo een systeem zitten zoals het feit dat top teams hun klantenteams nooit exact dezelfde specificaties zullen geven uit concurrentieoogpunt, vergeet de goede man voor het gemak te vermelden...

      Stitch: is dt nu ook al niet aan de hand met de motoren e.d.
      Mercedes levert aan Williams echt niet hetgeen ze zelf hebben. Denk dat ze altijd 1 stap achter lopen als klant.

      In dit geval gaat het niet meer over klantenauto's van de topteams, maar over een algemene klantenchassis van een externe leverancier. Wat jij zegt gaat in dit geval dus helemaal niet op.

    Vroeger in Indycar: Penske, Lola & Reynard. Maar dat betekende niet dat alle auto dezelfde ontwikkelingen hadden. Alle teams hadden hun eigen mechanische en aerodynamische onderdelen waardoor er grote verschillen ontstonden.
    Dat zou in de F1 ook zo kunnen zijn. Ik ben een voorstander van klantenauto's. Grote kosten besparing maar dat moet niet betekenen dat de races saai worden.

      Het geinige is dat klantenauto's eigenlijk net uit de geschiedenis van de F1 komen. Een of andere rijke heer kocht een wagen op van een ander team, maakte hem raceklaar en stond er mee aan de start.

      Ik heb ook absoluut geen bezwaren, een groter veld betekend een gezondere f1, en net wat RUTH al zegt, in het verleden gebeurde het ook dat een rijke pief een wagen kocht, lijkt me leuk als we weer een groter veld hebben met achteraan de grid evt wat avonturiertjes erbij, desnoods zo'n 1-wagen teampje ofzo.
      9 op de 10 keer zullen ze achteraan bungelen maar het kan ook eens verrassend uitpakken. Dat het veld aangevuld wordt met een 1 jaar oude Ferrari of RB maar dan voorzien van een compleet andere livery ofzo.
      Ik beweer niet dat het halve veld zo moet gaan werken, maar een aantal teams erbij is altijd interessant.

    Zo dat dat uit zijn mond komt, ben benieuwd wat hij er dan aan verdiend. Bernie kennende levert het hem geld op. Die man doet niks zolang hij er niet beter van wordt.

      Geen zorgen Bengel! Ik verwacht Stoffel sowieso wel in de formule 1, die heeft geen geld of een klantenauto nodig...

      Ik verwacht Stoffel ook wel in de Formule 1. Bij Toro Rosso zoeken ze namelijk nog iemand om Max' schoenen te poetsen.

      Juist ja, ART wil in de F1 en Mc laren wil absoluut een tweede B-team want Honda wil meerdere team's voorzien van motoren om sneller te kunnen ontwikkelen. Hoe meer renstallen je voorziet van motoren, hoe meer parameters je hebt.

    Klantenauto's bestaan al jaren. Het is heel simpel. Ik geef je een hint. Ga eens op zoek naar afbeeldingen van de toenmalige Benetton F1 wagen waarmee Schumacher wereldkampioen werd. Het was de wagen met de reclame van Bitburger denk ik. Achteraf bleek die wagen te beschikken over illegale software (tractiecontrole) maar dat is een ander verhaal. De Brit TOm Walkinshaw was toen teambaas van het Ligier F1 team. Walkinshaw was afkomstig van Benetton of hij had er zeer goede connecties. Hij kocht de licentierechten van de benetton wagen. Een exacte kopie verscheen op de circuits maar wel in andere kleuren, namelijk Gauloises met als rijders denk ik Martin Brundle en Mark Blundell. Dit waren klantenwagens. Maar het werd niet gezegd met zoveel woorden natuurlijk. Ligier JS41 is de wagen. Benetton is de J193/194.
