Lotus kijkt uit naar motorupgrade aankomend weekend

Lotus hoopt aankomend weekend in Canada als vierde team van het veld te finishen, nadat de renstal een motorupgrade heeft ontvangen van Mercedes.

De motorleverancier spendeerde aan het begin van het seizoen vijfentwintig van haar tokens, en had hierdoor zeven over voor de rest van het jaar. Mercedes lijkt enkele te hebben gebruikt vanwege de nabije update. CEO Matthew Carter van Lotus: "Wij gebruiken aankomend weekend een nieuwe motor én een nieuwe upgrade. Ik denk dat Mercedes enkele tokens heeft gebruikt, wij hebben namelijk een verbeterde krachtbron."

Hoewel Carter aangeeft volgend weekend als vierde team te willen eindigen, ziet hij Force India en McLaren als grootste concurrenten in Montreal: "Ferrari, Mercedes en Williams zijn te snel voor ons, maar wij kunnen daarachter plaatsnemen. Naast de motorupgrade hebben wij ook verbeteringen voor onze auto, bijvoorbeeld op het gebied van remkoeling. Ik denk dat het een goede race voor ons wordt."
