Mercedes-Benz opent in 2018 nieuw testcircuit

Mercedes-Benz investeert 250 miljoen euro in de bouw van een nieuw testcircuit nabij Emmingden, ten zuiden van Stuttgart. De opening van de baan staat gepland voor 2018. Dat heeft de Duitse autofabrikant bevestigd tegenover journalist Greg Kable.

Gezien de geldende testrestricties voor de Formule 1 ligt het niet voor de hand dat de Formule 1-tak veel gebruik gaat maken van de baan. Ferrari gebruikt Fiorano ook nog maar sporadisch voor Formule 1-activiteiten, maar Mercedes heeft dan in elk geval een nieuw testcircuit.
