Bottas bezorgt Williams eerste podium sinds Abu Dhabi 2014

Valtteri Bottas is de Grand Prix van Canada op een keurige derde positie geëindigd. De Fin mocht daardoor voor het eerst sinds de Grand Prix van Abu Dhabi van 2014 weer eens naar het podium en ook voor Williams was het de eerste podiumklassering sinds de slotrace van vorig seizoen. Bottas is logischerwijs zeer tevreden.

"Ik ben ontzettend blij voor het team", vertelt Bottas. "Ik ben erg trots dat ik deel uitmaak van Williams. De fout van Raikkonen bezorgde ons een positie winst in de race en we hebben ook onze strategie aangepast. Het team heeft uitstekend werk geleverd en ikzelf reed ook een degelijke race."

"Ik denk dat we dit resultaat echt nodig hadden. We zagen afgelopen jaar dat het ons vertrouwen erg goed doet en we weten dat we weer een top team kunnen zijn dat vecht voor podiumplaatsen. Vanaf Oostenrijk rijden we met een nieuw pakket en ik denk dat we daarmee een stap voorwaarts kunnen maken. Hopelijk kunnen we dit soort resultaten dan herhalen."
