Oostenrijk verkoopt minder tickets voor F1-race

De Oostenrijkse Grand Prix gold vorig jaar nog als voorbeeld voor andere organisatoren en promotors, met volle tribunes en enthousiaste fans. Toch is ook in Oostenrijk een daling waarneembaar voor de komende editie.

Red Bull rekent volgens persbureau APA op een opkomst van tussen de 60.000 en 70.000 bezoekers voor de race. Vorig jaar bevolkten 95.000 toeschouwers de tribunes op de Red Bull Ring. Red Bull-motorsportadviseur Helmut Marko weet wel wat de oorzaak voor de afname is.

"Het is de schuld van de toestand van de Formule 1", vertelt de Oostenrijker. "Door de ongelooflijke dominantie van Mercedes is alle spanning verdwenen. Bovendien zijn de auto's niet spectaculair en luid genoeg meer om het publiek te bekoren."

"Niemand doet er wat aan. Ze praten en praten, maar er gebeurt bitter weinig. Iedereen is meer bezig met het eigen belang dan met wat goed zou zijn voor de sport. Daar schieten we, zeker op dit moment, niks mee op."

Marko, de F1 vandaag is net zo saai als tijdens je geweldige Red Bull-dominantie toen je liep te janken als men zei dat dat slecht voor de sport was. Hypocriet figuur.

      ik sta al vooraan in de rij, die tickets kunnen me niet duur genoeg zijn, ik koop ze toch wel.
      Je krijgt zoveel waar voor je geld dat ik me gewoon een dief voel!

    Tja, vind je het gek? Honderden euro's betalen om te kijken naar een race waarvan tevoren vast staat dat Hamilton 'm wint, Rosberg hem het leven toch niet serieus zuur kan maken en de nummer drie in principe Vettel is of anders toch de andere Ferrari mits Kimi gemotiveerd genoeg is om eens geen gekke fout te maken.

    Stel je toch eens voor dat niet Rosberg maar Alonso of Vettel in die tweede Mercedes zou hebben gezeten. Dan had Mercedes nog steeds het hele veld aan flarden gereden, maar dan hadden we wél een spannende strijd om het kampioenschap gehad. Rosberg is gewoon niet goed genoeg.

    Gaat toch nergens over dit.. Het racen is nep, de auto's zijn langzaam en produceren geen geluid. De coureurs zijn media poppetjes en de teams hebben budgets wat nergens over gaat. Sommige teams staan op omvallen, de circuits kunnen de torenhoge hoge kosten niet betalen en de fans haken massaal af.. Dit terwijl alle races achter de decoder gaan.

    Zoveel negatieve berichten in de media, zelfs met ons chauvinistisch sprankje hoop "Max Verstappen" is er tegenwoordig weinig meer aan.. Ik zeg back to basics! Terug naar de kern waar het om gaat: Geen gelul, maar racen!

    ik ben het ten dele eens met Marko, natuurlijk geeft hij graag de dominantie van MB als hoofdreden maar ik denk dat geluid en spektakel de werkelijk reden is voor de terugloop van belangstelling.
    Oostenrijk heeft er een paar jaar uitgelegen vandaar de grote opkomst in 2014, maar nu hebben de mensen daar ook de f1 nieuwe stijl kunnen aanschouwen, ik kan me zo voorstellen dat daarna de interesse wel wegebt...

    Het verschil tussen toen en nu is dat je toen nog een fantastisch geluid kon ervaren naast het circuit waar je ronda na ronde kippenvel van kreeg, en waarbij coureurs toen niet zoveel aan het sparen waren tijdens de race. Ik denk dat dat de grootste oorzaak is van de afname van racetoeschouwers. Wie gaat minimaal 170 euro neerleggen voor een race waarvan én de winnaar op voorhand bekend is, waarbij coureurs alleen maar aan het liften en coasten zijn én waarbij je het geluid van een paar GT'jes hoort.

      Kevin, ik ben het helemaal met je eens. Het verschil met het tijdperk voor de V6 motoren is eigenlijk alleen het geluid, meer niet. Dat deze meneer Marko verontwaardigd is, zal meer te maken hebben met dat zijn werkgever de eigenaar is van het circuit.

      Ik ben er vorig jaar geweest en het is nu eenmaal een niet al te spectaculair circuit, vergelijkbaar met Silverstone, ook qua infrastructuur. In principe ben je verplicht om in Graz te overnachten en dat is echt veel te ver van het circuit.

    Tja, vroeger reden ze nog met 6 wielen en torenhoge vleugels op de neus. Dat was leuk om te zien en het rauwe F1 geluid erbij. Nu is het saai. Zat altijd op het puntje van de bank maar omdat er tegenwoordig veel minder gebeurt op de baan lig ik maar op de bank.
    Erg zonde dat de F1 om zeep wordt geholpen. Gooi alle remmen los qua regels, zolang de veiligheid van coureurs en publiek maar niet in het geding is. Oja, en weg met die PayTV deals.
