Korte neus McLaren nog niet door de crashtests

Het team van McLaren is van plan om bij de volgende Grand Prix, in Oostenrijk, een groot pakket updates te introduceren. Een nieuwe korte neus staat centraal in die upgrade, maar het is de Britse renstal nog niet gelukt om daarmee de verplichte crashtests te doorstaan.

Red Bull Racing kan erover meepraten. De Oostenrijkse renstal had eerder dit seizoen ook vele pogingen nodig om de crashtests van de internationale autosportbond FIA te overleven met een nieuwe neus. De teller voor McLaren staat inmiddels op vijf mislukte pogingen.

Een woordvoerder laat weten: "Sommige significante aerodynamische upgrades vereisen eerst een serie crashtests. Het komt zelden voor dat het gelijk bij de eerste poging raak is. We hebben er alle vertrouwen in dat onze nieuwe neus in de nabije toekomst wel goedgekeurd wordt."
