VT1: Rosberg snelste, problemen bij Vettel

Nico Rosberg heeft de snelste tijd gereden in de eerste vrije training op de Red Bull Ring. De Duitser van Mercedes reed een 1:10.401 en bleef daarmee teamgenoot Lewis Hamilton drie tienden voor. Sebastian Vettel kende problemen en reed slechts de twintigste tijd.

Achter de dominante Mercedessen reed Kimi Raikkonen de derde tijd op zes tienden achterstand. De Ferrari-rijder had meer geluk dan zijn teamgenoot Vettel. Die viel al vroeg in de training stil met een probleem in de versnellingsbak en reed daardoor maar vier rondjes.

Het middenveld zat dicht bij elkaar in de vrije training. Felipe Nasr reed in zijn Sauber een keurige vijfde tijd, terwijl zijn teamgenoot Marcus Ericsson slechts een halve seconde langzamer was en de vijftiende tijd op de klokken zette.

Max Verstappen had een vrij probleemloze sessie in de Oostenrijkse Alpen. De Nederlander reed met 38 ronden de meeste van allemaal en zette met een 1:11.825 de achtste tijd neer.

Problemen waren er wel weer bij McLaren. Jenson Button reed zonder veel problemen dertig rondjes en werd zestiende, maar Fernando Alonso kwam zo ver niet. Al in zijn eerste rondje ontbrak de aandrijving bij de Spanjaard. Na lang in de pits te hebben gestaan, kon Alonso uiteindelijk nog tien ronden rijden. Verder dan een zeventiende tijd kwam hij echter niet.

Het meest opmerkelijke moment van de vrije training komt op naam van Maurizio Arrivabene. De teambaas van Ferrari wilde de pitstraat oversteken, maar zag de wegrijdende Felipe Massa over het hoofd. Massa kon op tijd stoppen en voorkwam daarmee een pijnlijke botsing met Arrivabene.

Lees net op internet dat Alonso 20 startplekken straf krijgt !!!!!
Waar gaar dit nog over. Er staan maar 18 (Manor tel ik niet mee) auto's aan de start. Trieste vertoning deze nuttellose straffen. De hele sport en daarmee de spanning gaan ernaan. Dan zal het niet vel uitmaken voor Alonso maar hij doet nu voor nog meer spek en bonen mee. Zelfde gedoe als met Max de vorige race. Er MOET echt wat veranderen aan die regels. Waardeloze toestand.

  Regels zijn inderdaad waardeloos, maar het maakt voor McLaren toch allemaal niet meer uit. Elke GP is voor hun gewoon een testweekend om de auto en motor te verbeteren voor volgend seizoen. En dan is het nog maar de vraag of het volgend seizoen veel beter zal gaan..
