Vettel had gehoopt Mercedes meer tegenstand te kunnen bieden

Sebastian Vettel eindigde de kwalificatie voor de Grand Prix van Oostenrijk als derde, maar de Duitser had gehoopt dat hij wat meer tegenstand had kunnen bieden aan het Mercedes-duo. De derde startplaats biedt echter perspectief voor de Ferrari-coureur.

"Mercedes was wederom sneller", stelt Vettel na afloop van de kwalificatie. "We hoopten partij te kunnen bieden, maar ze waren simpelweg te snel. We hebben alles geprobeerd. Het zag er tijdens de trainingen nog erg goed uit, maar het lukte niet."

"Q1 was een listige sessie, maar we reden comfortabel rond. Tijdens het laatste deel zijn de Mercedes-aangedreven auto's echter een stuk sneller, dat kun je zien aan het gat naar Mercedes en ook Williams is dan erg snel. Er is werk te doen voor ons, maar over het algemeen kunnen we blij zijn met de derde plaats. Het team heeft het goed gedaan."

    Jammer, maar MB heeft genoeg reserve. Ze spelen met de concurrentie. Ferrari 30 PK erbij MB gas erbij.

      Klopt helemaal.MB speelt met de concurrentie.vier jaar aan systeem gewerkt .en ze laten nog steeds niet de ware potentie zien die zagen we in Bahrein 2.5 sec

    Niet helemaal mee eens Maxi Mercedes zat ook op de limiet getuige de fouten laatste ronde Q3 en volgens mij was het iets koeler vandaar dat Vettel net iets te kort kwam.
    Kan dus morgen leuke race worden als het weer meewerkt.

    Ferrari zit toch wat dichter, de racepace is quasi dezelfde.
    Jammer dat Kimi weeral een miscommunicatie kende...misschien moet hij eens zelf wat meer beginnen te communiceren. Just sayin'

      Als je er vanuit gaat dat Mercedes tijdens de race alles uit die auto haalt dan wel ja maar wie zegt dat dat zo is??? Nico en Lewis krijgen allebei evenveel vermogen tijdens de race om het eerlijk te laten verlopen maar dat zegt niks over hoeveel potentieel ze gebruiken van het totaal.

      Mercedes heeft blijkbaar zoveel ruimte over omdat als ze echt op vol vermogen gaan non stop dan zouden ze niet die betrouwbaarheids-graad van nu behouden. Daaraan zie je enigszins dat ze nog ruimte zat hebben. De "Remproblemen" die ze af en toe hadden tijdens de race zegt niks over de limiet van de PU.

      Na een paar upgrades aan de motor van Ferrari welke nog geen deuk in een pakje boter reden heb ik mijn verwachtingen voor dit seizoen als Ferrari fan inmiddels in de ijskast gezet.

      Mercedes werkte dubbel zolang als de rest aan deze generatie PU zowel in de fabriek als in de politieke wandelgangen. Uiteindelijk hebben ze dominantie alleen te danken aan dat ze die voorsprong hebben genomen, bewijst dat je het kan maar niet durft te doen in een echt gelijk speelveld. Dat is mijn mening los van het feit dat ik mijn petje af doe Mercedes voor het technische niveau wat ze hebben bereikt. Als volgende alledaagse auto overweeg ik nu zeker wel een Merc met die betrouwbaarheid. Haha

    Toch leuk wat Vettel met die wagen doet, zou het dan toch zover komen dat ik een heel klein beetje Vettel-fan ga worden? Het moet niet gekker worden.
