Marko ontkent geruchten over vertrek Horner

In navolging van Christian Horner zelf, heeft nu ook Dr Helmut Marko korte metten gemaakt met de geruchten over een vertrek van Horner. De Brit zou vervangen worden door oud-Formule 1-coureur Gerhard Berger, maar die geruchten zijn volgens Marko "absolute nonsens".

De rechterhand van Red Bull-eigenaar Dietrich Mateschitz vertelde tegen de Kleine Zeitung: "Degene die dit gerucht verzonnen heeft, heeft het volkomen uit de lucht gegrepen. Het is gewoon niet waar." Volgens het gerucht zou de Oostenrijker Berger, die na zijn tijd als teambaas van Toro Rosso de baas was van het FIA Junior Single Seater-programma, op zoek zijn naar een nieuwe baan in de Formule 1.

Berger zou er niet op zitten te wachten om de F1 te verlossen van zijn problemen. "We hebben een competente FIA-president (Jean Todt, red.) en een zeer succesvolle baas in Bernie Ecclestone. Als die twee hun krachten bundelen, zullen ze het probleem snel onder controle hebben," verklaarde Berger tegenover het Oostenrijke persbureau APA.

Opmerkelijk genoeg wordt Horner ook gelinkt aan een hoge functie in het management van de Formule 1. Daarover zegt Horner tegen de Duitse krant Bild: "Ik heb een overeenkomst met Red Bull voor meerdere jaren. Mijn missie is om ons terug te brengen naar de top, maar het is waar dat je niet altijd kan voorspellen wat de toekomst gaat brengen."

Berger bij RB is niet zo best voor Max. Berger past in het rijtje Villeneuve, Massa, enz.... Die afgunstig zijn over Max zijn bliksem carrière.

  Dat heeft een goede reden en wel zijn neef Lucas Auer, die voordat Max kwam een van de getalenteerde rijders was die wel naar de F1 zouden gaan. Max heeft een aardige streep door de rekening van Auer gezet en dat neemt Berger hem niet in dank af.

Ik denk dat iedereen met gezond verstand ziet dat Toro Rosso gewoon twee talenten in huis heeft die echt nog wel jaren in de F1 blijven.
Ik denk dat geen van beiden een aftocht gaan maken zoals een Vergne, Sutil of dergelijke.

Ik zou Horner niet graag zien vertrekken bij Red Bull. Hij is een van de weinige gasten daar die ok is.
