Bottas acht wereldtitel met Williams haalbaar

Valtteri Bottas hoeft niet zo nodig naar Mercedes of Ferrari te verkassen. De Fin leeft in de overtuiging dat hij met zijn huidige werkgever Williams ook een gooi naar de titel kan doen. Op deze manier probeert hij het gespeculeer rondom zijn toekomst een halt toe te roepen.

Bottas vertelde aan Sport Bild: "Voor mij behoort Williams tot de drie beste teams in de Formule 1. Als je in de komende jaren wereldkampioen wil worden, dan moet je voor een van deze teams rijden. Mijn vizier is gericht op de titel. Als dat met Williams zou kunnen, dan zou dat me heel gelukkig stemmen. Natuurlijk, op een gegeven moment is het zaak verder te kijken en moet je ook voor jezelf kiezen."

Hij geldt als een belangrijke kandidaat om landgenoot Kimi Raikkonen bij Ferrari op te volgen. Dan zou Bottas als teamgenoot van viervoudig wereldkampioen Sebastian Vettel gaan fungeren. Daar is hij niet bang voor. "Ik voel me sterk genoeg om de strijd aan te gaan, al leer ik van elke teamgenoot die ik heb."

    Ik denk dat dat uitgesloten is. Williams kampioen met een mercedes motor, laat Mercedes toch nooit toe??? of zie ik het verkeerd...

    Als Williams ook weer een top team budget weet te regelen dan misschien wel ja. Op dit moment moeten ze het doen met de helft van wat Mercedes te besteden heeft en zelfs slechts een derde van wat Ferrari en Red Bull uitgeven.

    Over een heel seizoen win je dat gewoon niet. De teams met meer geld kunnen sneller nieuwe onderdelen ontwikkelen en leveren uiteindelijk dus snellere auto's op.

    Ga maar na hoeveel een auto sneller wordt gedurende een seizoen. Als je twee keer zoveel geld uitgeeft gaat de auto in theorie ook twee keer zo hard. Dan doe je bij wijze van spreken 2 seizoenen aan ontwikkeling in een enkel seizoen.

    Vorig seizoen hadden ze nog het voordeel van de Mercedes motor, maar inmiddels is de Ferrari motor goed genoeg dat Williams het al niet meer van ze wint. Zelfs met 30pk minder voor de Ferrari.

      Los daarvan weet elk team inmiddels dat er maar 1 weg naar de titel is en dat is door powerunit en chassis in eigen beheer te nemen.
      Mercedes doet het, Ferrari doet het en McLaren heeft het ook ingezien (De samenwerking met Honda is net zo intensief als een een PU in eigen beheer)
      RB weet het ook en gokte aanvankelijk op intensieve samenwerking met Renault en keek om die reden eerder ook al naar de mogelijkheid om zelf een PU te bouwen.
      Om die reden zal Williams never nooit wereldkampioen worden. Tenzij Mercedes volledig de plank mis slaat met het chassis ontwerp terwijl hun motor onverminderd de beste blijft en Ferrari niet weet te verbeteren. Dan zou Williams misschien een gooi naar de titel kunnen doen.
      Maar dan zal Bottas sterker moeten gaan rijden dan nu en niet achter Flipje aan zoals de laatste weekenden.
      Zetten ze Max erin dan zou het misschien wel kunnen ;)
