Stationair toerental oorzaak van crash Maria de Villota

De crash van Maria de Villota in 2012 werd veroorzaakt doordat de motor op een stationair toerental bleef lopen, tegen de zin van De Villota in. Dat is de conclusie van een onderzoek van de Health and Safety Executive (HSE), dat in handen van de BBC is gekomen.

De HSE besloot vorige maand al om Manor Marussia niet te vervolgen voor de crash, waarbij De Villota tegen de openstaande laadklep van een vrachtwagen aanreed. Zij verloor daarbij een oog en overleed een jaar later door de gevolgen van de crash.

Na twee succesvolle runs op het vliegveld Duxford keerde De Villota terug naar de pits toen haar voorwielen blokkeerden onder het remmen. Omdat de versnellingen ingeschakeld waren en de auto was uitgerust met een stationair toerental van 4100 toeren per minuut, werd De Villota als het ware tegen de laadklep aangeduwd. Ook probeerde ze nog de koppeling in te schakelen en de versnellingen uit te schakelen, maar dat lukte niet. Eerder meldde de Spaanse het team al dat de koppeling niet gebruikt kon worden als het stuur maximaal gedraaid was. Tijdens de crash was dat het geval. Na de crash zei De Villota dat ze dacht dat ze laadklep zou missen.

Uit het onderzoek bleek dat De Villota voorafgaand aan de test instructies toegestuurd kreeg van een engineer. Daar werd echter niets vermeld over hoe ze de auto moest stoppen of welke versnelling ze moest selecteren in de tijdelijke pitstraat. Ook op het vliegveld waar de test plaatsvond, werd haar niets uitgelegd over de procedure. Volgens het rapport vertrouwde Marussia op de kwaliteiten en ervaring van De Villota, die eerder al getest had voor Lotus.

Ik hoop deze simpele eis in het regelement wordt opgenomen. (mosterd na het vedronken kalf dat over de dam is...)

Oef.. Kostbare fout is het toch geweest! Zal dat hetzelfde zijn geweest wat er met Max Verstappen gebeurde tijdens VKV Cityracing in Rotterdam? Dat zeg maar de anti stall de auto voorwaarts blijft duwen/gas gaat geven.

Kan iedere jonge/nieuwe coureur overkomen, is toch niet niks een F1 auto besturen.

  Je weet de details niet en vind je conclussie voorbarig. Ik zou mij kunnen voorstellen dat als je het stuur volledig draait het fysiek niet mogelijk is om bij het hendeltje van het ontkoppelen te komen.
  
  Het is niet mogelijk om alles dicht te timmeren en het lijkt mij ook niet nodig om hier wat te wijzigen ik denk dat ze eerder moeten kijken naar dat er geen gevaarlijke objecten op de baan of pitstraat staan waar je je met lage snelheid aan kunt verwonden.

  Ik reageer op het artikel en heb er niets bijverzonnen of aangenomen wat er niet staat.
  
  Er zijn altijd dingen in de pitstaat waar je liever niet tegenaan botst (je team bijvoorbeeld).

Hmmm, het toppunt van techniek maar als je het stuur maximaal draait kun je niet ontkoppelen. Ligt het aan mij of zijn er meer die dit knullig vinden?

Dat stationair toerental is toch niet wat het ongeluk veroorzaakte? F1 auto's hebben altijd een hoog stationair toerental. Het ongeluk gebeurde omdat ze niet kon ontkoppelen.

De vraag is meer wat ze dan wel moeten doen om te stoppen en wat is daar zo anders aan dan bij een andere F1 auto? Wat ik er uit opmaak is dat ze pas probeerde te ontkoppelen toen het al veel te laat was.

Tja, hoe dramatisch ook. Blijft een vervelende samenloop van omstandigheden, met helaas een fataal einde.
Wie verwacht op een ruim vliegveld nou een dergelijk ongeluk? Voor hetzelfde geld had ze de vrachtwagen op een andere plek geraakt of een muur en was ze er zonder kleerscheuren vanaf gekomen, nu was ze helaas op de verkeerd plek op het verkeerde moment.

Eeuwig zonde, maar achteraf doen we er weinig meer aan en lijkt het me ook niet terecht om hier iemand voor te bestraffen.
