Constructie van circuit van Bakoe kan beginnen

De eerste editie van de Europese Spelen zijn voorbij, in Bakoe kan de aandacht nu vol op het volgende grote sportevenement. De hoofdstad van Azerbeidzjan is volgend jaar, waarschijnlijk in juli, gastheer van de Grand Prix van Europa.

Dat gebeurt op een stratencircuit in Bakoe, maar dat betekent niet dat ze geen voorbereidingen moeten treffen. De onvermijdelijke circuitontwerper Hermann Tilke is uiteraard bij het project betrokken. De constructiewerkzaamheden kunnen beginnen.

Tilke deelde aan Sports Business Global mede: "Azerbeidzjan wilde vanzelfsprekend geen grote bouwplaats in de stad gedurende de Europese Spelen. We gaan wat ongewone dingen doen in Bakoe. Zo loopt het parkoers door de historische binnenstad. Het wordt fantastisch."
