Imola dingt mee naar organisatie Formule E-race

Imola heeft niet alleen zijn zinnen gezet op een terugkeer op de Formule 1-kalender, maar ook op het organiseren van een race in de Formule E. Het Italiaanse plaatsje heeft zich als een van de vele potentiële locaties aangemeld voor het tweede seizoen van de elektrische klasse.

Het is nu aan de organisatie van de Formule E om daar een keuze uit te maken. Mocht Imola de schifting overleven, dan zou dat een stijlbreuk voor de serie betekenen. In de eerste jaargang vonden alle ePrixs namelijk plaats op stratencircuits in grote steden en niet op een permanent circuit.

Motorsport.com bericht dat de burgemeester van Imola recent naar Londen is geweest voor een onderhoud met Formule E-baas Alejandro Agag. De race zou plaats vinden op een verkorte versie van het circuit, met vlak na start en finish een haakse bocht naar links. De Tamburello zou bijvoorbeeld niet in de lay-out opgenomen worden.
