Kumho mengt zich in strijd om levering banden vanaf 2011

Het Koreaanse bandenmerk Kumho heeft ook belangstelling om Bridgestone op te volgen als officiële bandenleverancier voor de Formule 1. Het Duitse Auto Motor und Sport bericht dat Kumho een formele brief naar de internationale autosportbond FIA en Bernie Ecclestone heeft gestuurd om de interesse kenbaar te maken.

Pirelli, Avon Cooper en Michelin maakten hun belangstelling al eerder kenbaar en de teams hopen nog altijd dat Bridgestone blijft. De renstallen verlangen zo spoedig mogelijk duidelijkheid omdat de banden een belangrijke rol spelen bij het ontwerp van de nieuwe auto. Het liefst zouden de teams al in Monaco weten waar ze voor volgend jaar aan toe zijn.
