Leimer tevreden na vrijdagdebuut voor Manor

Fabio Leimer kijkt met een tevreden gevoel terug op zijn debuut in de eerste vrije training voor Manor op de Hungaroring. De Zwitser, die in 2013 kampioen werd in de GP2, tekende onlangs een contract als reserverijder bij Manor. Het is niet de eerste keer dat Leimer in een Formule 1-auto reed, in 2011 testte hij voor Sauber.

Leimer: "De auto voelde goed gaan en ik kwam al snel in het goede ritme. Ik ben tevreden dat ik een bijdrage heb kunnen leveren aan het team in deze moeilijke periode". Met dat laatste doelt Leimer op de emotionele week die het team doormaakt na het overlijden van hun voormalige rijder Jules Bianchi.

Leimer reed achttien ronden met een snelste tijd van 1.30.631, hiermee was hij een seconde langzamer dan vaste rijder Will Stevens. Leimer spreekt de wens uit om vaker te rijden voor het team. Dat kan in de training zijn, maar ook een of meer races behoort tot de mogelijkheden aangezien van 'vaste' rijder Roberto Mehri wordt beweerd dat hij geen lopend contract heeft met het team. Leimer zou meer sponsorgeld mee kunnen brengen, wat hem een interessante optie maakt voor Manor.

  @Levano: 'mekaar' mag ook. Elkaar is geschikter bij formeel taalgebruik. Aangezien we hier één grote hoop vrienden zijn, heb ik het op 'mekaar' gehouden. :-)
