Bakoe klaar voor homologatie van stratencircuit

Het stratencircuit van Bakoe is gereed voor goedkeuring door de internationale autosportbond FIA. De Azerbeidzjaanse hoofdstad is volgend jaar voor het eerst gastheer van een Grand Prix, op een parkoers van zes kilometer lengte over de boulevard langs de kust en door het oude centrum.

Het is alleen nog wachten op de homologatie. Bakoe is er klaar voor, laat promotor Arif Rahimov aan Motorsport.com weten. "De lay-out van de baan is afgerond. Enkele kleine details zoals veiligheidsmateriaal in bepaalde bochten namen wat langer in beslag dan verwacht, maar we zijn nu in afwachting van de homologatie."

"We hebben in Hongarije met Charlie Whiting gesproken om te horen wat hij te zeggen had. Er zijn geen grote problemen. Ons circuit bevat verder voldoende inhaalmogelijkheden. De grootste kans om iemand te passeren ligt uiteraard in bocht 1, na het lange rechte stuk over de boulevard."
