Williams aast op tweede plaats bij constructeurs

Het team van Williams heeft zijn zinnen gezet op de tweede plek in het constructeurs-kampioenschap. De Britse renstal heeft dan wel een niet misselijk gat naar Ferrari te overbruggen. De achterstand van Williams bedraagt 85 punten.

Technisch directeur Pat Symonds richt het vizier in Autosprint niettemin op positie twee. "Kunnen we Ferrari nog verslaan? Ik heb redenen om hoopvol te zijn. Op dit moment is onze performance vergelijkbaar met die van Ferrari."

"Het varieert een beetje per circuit, maar ik kan iedereen verzekeren dat Williams geen genoegen neemt met de derde plaats in het kampioenschap. Ons doel is om in de eindstand beslag te leggen op de tweede plek, vlak voor Ferrari."

    Ik denk ook dat dit niet gaat lukken. Op snelle circuits ligt de performance dicht bij elkaar. Maar op langzamere circuits is ferrari nog steeds goed terwijl williams in de achterhoede knokt met de saubers. Ferrari heeft een betere allround auto gebouwd.

    Als ze elke race p3 en 4 worden, en Ferrari P5 en 6, komen ze nog een paar punten te kort. Ik denk niet dat ze dit op eigen kracht kunnen.

      Plus dat de coureurs bij Ferrari van een iets hoger niveau zijn en e.e.a. goed kunnen maken. Plus de Williams gaat voor geen meter in de regen, dus als er nog een regenrace tussen zit dan wordt het een extra groot probleem voor Williams om de doelstellingen te halen. Maar wel begrijpelijk, je wilt altijd het gaat naar voren dichten en niet achterom kijken. Ze moeten toch wel rekening houden met RB.

    De performance is vergelijkbaar inderdaad, maar wel net ietsje minder. Afgezien van Silverstone (toen het nog droog) was zijn ze nog geen enkele keer echt sneller geweest dan Ferrari toch?

    Al finished Bottas af en toe voor Raikkonen, maar dat zit hem ook niet echt in de snelheid maar meer in de pech en strategische blunders die Kimi te verduren heeft.

    Daar hebben ze auto en coureurs niet voor. Als het vorig jaar al niet lukte is dit jaar het helemaal onmogelijk. Steek onder water naar Ferrari en Kimi als je mij vraagt.

    Alleen Vettel heeft meer punten dan Williams in totaal, ik zie het niet gebeuren. Maar ach, ambitie moeten ze hebben natuurlijk :)

    Je kan ergens je vizier op richten.... Maar dan moet je ook nog raak schieten. Ze doen het nu al eigenlijk beter dan wat ik verwacht had. Op de snelle circuits dan... Ze moeten voor volgend jaar toch echt een omslag maken met het chassis om weer op standaard podium plekken te eindigen.

      Daar hebben ze gewoon het geld niet voor.

      Ik snap ook die roep gewoon niet dat ze hun chassis moeten omgooien om ook op die 2 of 3 high downforce circuits goed mee te kunnen doen. Voor de 16 overige races voldoet deze auto prima.

      Denk juist dat ze hun beperkte budget heel slim gebruikt hebben door te mikken op de grootste groep circuits en niet op die paar afwijkende.

      Ze hebben maar net meer dan een derde van het budget van Ferrari. Dus het is al heel bijzonder dat ze zo goed mee komen. Al zitten ze qua werknemers wel dichter op elkaar dus voor een groot deel zit dat kleinere budget ook gewoon verrekend in lagere salarissen.

    Prima doelstelling. Of het haalbaar is, denk het niet.

    Begrijp de negatieve commentaren hierboven allemaal niet zo. Williams doet het gewoon erg goed en dat ligt niet alleen aan de Mercedes motor. FI en Lotus hebben dat zelfde ding en waar zijn die? Williams staat gewoon stevig op de 3de plaats bij de constructeurs, prima prestatie!

    Beter dan een derde plaats behouden zit er dit jaar echt niet in voor Williams.
    En dat weten ze zelfs ook. Waarom dan deze onzin uitkramen.
    Je mag ambitieus zijn maar toch wel feeling met de realiteit blijven behouden.
    Is bijna hetzelfde als dat Force India zou zeggen dat ze dit jaar nog azen op een eerste GP overwinning.
