Honda: "Er zijn geen barsten in relatie met McLaren"

Honda's Yasuhisa Arai zegt dat er geen barsten zijn in de relatie tussen de Japanse fabrikant en McLaren ondanks een teleurstellende start van hun samenwerking.

De motorsportbaas vertelde in een interview: "Elke stap van dit nieuwe project is besproken met het management van McLaren. We bespreken elke dag onze plannen. Ik weet dat er van bepaalde sponsoren druk ligt maar wij vertrouwen elkaar en helpen om met goede innovatieve ideeën te komen. Het werken met twee verschillende culturen binnen één team heeft ons ook sterker en creatiever gemaakt. We hebben een hele goede relatie en een heel goed team. Ik vertrouw iedereen in het team volledig en zouden niet McLaren-Honda zijn zonder een ieder van hun. We zouden niet zo hard vechten zonder het harde werk dat iedereen nu verricht."

Arai vertelde tevens dat hij grote druk op zijn schouders voelt maar zijn positie niet onder druk voelt staan binnen Honda.

Hij zal erop doelen dat de Renault V8 ook minder PK produceerde. Die motor scheen echter zuiniger met brandstof om te springen wat weer het voordeel gaf dat ze minder brandstof hoefden mee te nemen.     Nou, er is wel degelijk sprake van een aantal barstjes...als je eerder toegeeft het F1 project onderschat hebt, dan zou ik (lees Mclaren) daar niet zo blij van worden.

    Ben ik het redelijk mee eens... Er is zeker niet zo een openlijke kritiek als bij RB en Renault!

      Bij Redbull is het frustratie na jaren lang een motor te hebben die PK tekort komt,
      Mclaren en Honda zijn na jaren weer herenigt. Daarbij weet Mclaren waar ze aan zijn begonnen. Redbull kon alles verliezen.

      Jaren lang PK te kort komen!? we racen nog maar 1,5 jaar met deze motorformule...en daarvoor waren ze kampioen.....dus RBR is echt wel iets te ondankbaar in mijn ogen.
