Autosport is gevaarlijk, die waarschuwing staat op elk kaartje voor een race-evenement. In de Formule 1 ging het meer dan twintig jaar goed. Dat wil zeggen, zonder dodelijke slachtoffers. Door het overlijden van Jules Bianchi is daar een einde aan gekomen. Er zijn deze eeuw wel meer zware crashes geweest.. Auto Motor und Sport publiceerde dit overzicht met de data van de betreffende ongelukken.

De meest miraculeuze 'ontsnapping' is toch wel die van Sato bij die crash met Heidfeld. Kreeg daar even vol een F1-wagen in het gezicht. Vond dat nog erger dan de crash met Alonso en Grosjean op Spa.

Ik mis ook wel de nodige klappers uit Amerika, de indy500 bijvoorbeeld.

Webber op Valencia 2010. Maar dat zag er volgens mij erger uit dan het uiteindelijk was doordat-ie zo door de lucht vloog. Maar in de lucht raak je weinig.

Eigenlijk is die Webber maar een prutser met die zware crashes van m:P

Impact snelheid bij Kubica 227(!) km per uur. Bizar. Vreesde toen echt dat ik getuige(voor de buis) was van een dodelijk ongeluk, rillingen liepen toen over mijn lijf.
Gelukkig liep het goed af wat ik ook weer bizar vond.

Speciaal voor alle sportredacties die hijgen op G-krachten: een G-kracht op zichzelf zegt weinig tot niks. Het gaat om kracht x duur. De twee factoren tezamen zeggen iets over de impact. Daarom valt een piloot bij 10 G flauw en stapt een coureur bij een 10 G crash gewoon uit. Is dat nou zo moeilijk?

Staat heel interessant die getallen, maar zegt weinig over de gevolgen voor de coureur. De tijd van de kracht zou inderdaad al iets meer zeggen, maar dan nog.
Massa 2009 in Hongarije: niet de impact was het probleem, maar de veer die Barichello verloor en Massa tegen zijn helm kreeg was het probleem voor Massa.
Jules Bianchi Suzuka 2014: niet de impact maar de plaats van de impact: tegen zijn hoofd. 58,8G is zeker niet de hoogste van het rijtje hierboven, maar hij kan het niet meer na vertellen.
