Ferrari herdenkt overlijdensdag van Enzo Ferrari

Op 14 augustus 1988 overleed Enzo Ferrari, de oprichter en naamgever van Ferrari. Het is inmiddels 27 jaar later, maar zijn naam en de herinnering aan Il Commendatore leven immer voort bij het Italiaanse sportwagenmerk en het gelijknamige Formule 1-team. Ferrari-president Sergio Marchionne: "Enzo Ferrari verliet ons 27 jaar geleden, maar zijn gedachtengoed en normen en waarden zijn vandaag de dag net zo relevant als toen."

Hij vervolgt zijn eerbetoon: "Zijn toewijding om de uitdagingen des levens te tackelen, zijn moed om risico's te nemen en tegen de stroom in te zwemmen en zijn nieuwsgierigheid om continu te innoveren zijn slechts een paar voorbeelden van hoe zijn geest nog elke dag de werknemers van Ferrari gidst. Voor mij is zijn nalatenschap een referentiepunt, een drijfveer om altijd weer op zoek te gaan naar verbetering."

"Enzo Ferrari was een van die zeldzame mensen voor wie niets onmogelijk is. Daarom ben ik ervan overtuigd dat als hij hier nog was, hij onze inspanningen om van Ferrari een nog modernere organisatie te maken zou waarderen. Hij zou dezelfde vechtersmentaliteit als wij tentoon spreiden om Ferrari terug aan de top te brengen. Enzo Ferrari heeft een grote erfenis achtergelaten, maar zolang we daar met dezelfde passie en hetzelfde verlangen om uit te blinken mee omspringen als onze oprichter is het absoluut geen last."
