Hülkenberg vergezelt Vettel bij Race of Champions

Nico Hülkenberg heeft zijn deelname aan de Race of Champions 2015 toegezegd. De Force India-coureur is de vervanger van Michael Schumacher als kompaan van Sebastian Vettel bij Team Duitsland in de Nations Cup. Hülkenberg doet ook mee aan het individuele competitie. De Duitser schreef eerder dit jaar de 24 uur van Le Mans op zijn naam.

"Het is een goed jaar voor me en ik verheug me op mijn debuut in de Race of Champions", begint Hülkenberg. "Meedoen aan dit evenement staat al langer op mijn verlanglijst, maar we kregen het nooit voor elkaar. Ik ben blij dat het er nu wel van komt. Ik treed in de grote voetsporen van Michael Schumacher, dat is een hele eer. Ik heb er zin in om samen met Sebastian een team te vormen en de eer van Duitsland te verdedigen."

"Het circuit bij de Race of Champions is altijd krap en smal, het heeft wat dat betreft wel wat weg van een stratencircuit. Maar het is nog wel snel, dynamisch en vermakelijk om naar te kijken. Het is een kwestie van snel aanpassen aan het materiaal, want je springt van de ene in de andere auto. Ik weet niet goed wat ik daarvan moet verwachten."
