Twee DRS-zones op circuit van Spa voor België 2015

De internationale autosportbond FIA heeft de details aangekondigd voor het gebruik van het Drag Reduction System tijdens de Grand Prix van België van komend weekend. Het circuit van Spa-Francorchamps wordt uitgerust twee DRS-zones, met ieder een apart detectiepunt.

Het eerste meetpunt ligt op weg naar Eau Rouge, waarna de beweegbare achtervleugel bovenaan de heuvel te activeren is voor het rechte stuk van Kemmel. Het tweede detectiepunt bevindt zich voor het aanremmen van bocht 19, de Bus Stop-chicane. De tweede DRS-zone begint net voorbij die bochtencombinatie en strekt zich uit over rechte stuk van start en finish.

Als er één stuk circuit is waar men zelfstandig goed kan inhalen dan is het wel bij Kemmel. DRS is zo onnodig daar en haalt de ziel uit een perfect opgebouwde inhaalactie.
    Inhalen is (of was) een kunst. Op Spa begint zo'n actie vaak al bij het uitkomen van Stavelo. Je slipstreamt zo goed mogelijk door Blanchimont naar de Busstop. Bij het opkomen van het rechte stuk probeer je er nog dichter achter te komen. Na La Source slipstream je richting Eau Rouge, waar de grote jongens de legendarische bocht beter aanvallen dan hun voorligger om er vervolgens bij Kemmel voorbij te knallen voordat je Les Combes in gaat. Na Les Combes kun je dan langzaam uitlopen door de bochtige secties. Neem GP van 2000 met Mika en Michael. Mika bouwde zijn legendarische actie perfect op. Had hij toen DRS gehad dan had hij Michael de ronde eerder waarin hij geblokt werd, al met 10 vingers in de neus al zwaaiend voorbij gereden. Én hadden wij een legendarische inhaalactie minder.

      Voorgaande jaren was de Kemmel toch ook al een DRS-zone?

    Als ze dan per sé DRS invoeren, ben ik wel blij met twee detectiepunten. Dat geeft de ingehaalde coureur tenminste de mogelijkheid te counteren.

    Ben het wel met Sun Tzu hierboven eens, dat Spa geen DRS nodig heeft..

    Weg met dat DRS ! Zorg er maar voor dat de coureurs auto's krijgen waar niet kunstmatig mee ingehaald hoeft te worden, back to the roots. Formule 1 hoort puur natuur te zijn!

      5 daagse buienradar.nl/spa/be, geeft op zondagmiddag vanaf ongeveer 1400 regen en onweer...

      Regen in Spa is een dag vantevoren al nauwelijks te voorspellen, laat staan 5 dagen vantevoren.

    Tot enkele jaren terug zat ik steeds op het rechte stuk van Kemmel. Je zag op de schermen dat 2 wagens quasi gelijk uit La Source uitkwamen, dan zag je ze staart aan staart Eau Rouge oprijden om ze dan op mijn hoogte naast mekaar te zien (soms keken ze zelfs in mekaars richting) om dan in de verte te zien wie de grootste ballen heeft en het laatste remt. Sinds DRS kan je de laatste 2 stappen schrappen: na de knik voorbij Eau Rouge is de achterligger er al lang voorbij.
    Droevig toch? Ieder jaar dunt mijn companie om naar Spa te gaan uit. Of ze blijven thuis of ze gaan naar Trier voor de WRC. Weet je, puur racematig beleef ik op Spa het meeste plezier aan de GP2.
