In beslagname auto's dreigt voor Lotus

De juridische problemen rondom het Formule 1-team van Lotus stapelen zich op. Het nieuwste hoofdstuk dat aan de lijst kan worden toegevoegd is een juridische strijd met voormalig reservecoureur Charles Pic. Het zou zelfs zo ver kunnen komen dat de auto's van het team het circuit na de race komende zondag niet mogen verlaten.

Charles Pic tekende begin vorig jaar een contract dat aan het einde van 2014 werd ontbonden. Pic claimt dat Lotus de afspraken uit het contract niet is nagekomen. De voormalig rijder van Marussia en Caterham had in het contract laten opnemen dat hij een aantal tests met de auto mocht afleggen. Zover is het nooit gekomen.

Lotus kende vorig jaar grote problemen met de betrouwbaarheid van de auto en integratie van de Renault-motor in het chassis. Toen de problemen eenmaal waren opgelost koos het team ervoor om haar vaste rijders zoveel mogelijk tijd in de auto te geven. Pic probeert zijn gelijk te halen en de zaak is inmiddels voorgelegd aan de rechter.

Pic zou al zover zijn dat hij van het Belgische Gerechtshof een document heeft ontvangen waarmee de auto's en het materiaal van Lotus het circuit van Spa-Francorchamps niet mogen verlaten na de race. Juristen van beide partijen zouden al in onderhandeling zijn om een passende oplossing te vinden voor het geschil.

Een van de eigenaren van het team, Gerard Lopez denkt dat het allemaal goed gaat komen: "Onze juridische afdeling bekijkt de zaak momenteel. Het zal allemaal op een normale manier worden opgelost. We zijn ons bewust dat Charles Pic meer dagen had moeten rijden. We gaan hier een goede oplossing voor vinden en door waar we mee bezig zijn". Lopez geeft verder aan geen problemen te verwachten bij het verlaten van het circuit aankomende zondag.

Hoewel Lopez de problemen ontkent lijkt de waarheid anders te zijn. Lotus zou de vrachtwagens verkocht hebben en alleen de opleggers nog in Spa hebben staan. De vrachtwagens zouden zijn verkocht om de schuldeisers te kunnen betalen en zo het Europese seizoen uit te kunnen zingen en het materiaal naar de overzeese races later in het seizoen te kunnen verschepen.

  Renault zal wel wachten tot een faillissement. Te veel gevaar voor onbekende problemen/schulden. Net als bij Sauber. Het enige veilige "kleine"team is STR, maarja, doordat die schuldvrij zijn zijn die weer heel duur.

  Misschien zit er wel een clausule in het contract dat PVDSA de rekening betaalt bij schade. Je zou het bijna beginnen denken.

Prima dat Pic daarmee bezig is. Wat hij en Van der Garde eerder dit jaar doen is alleen maar goed, het lijkt erop dat sommige teams overal mee weg denken te komen. Door actie te ondernemen zullen ze in de toekomst wel 2x denken voor ze loze contracten aan coureurs voorleggen.
