Stevens en Mehri kijken uit naar race

Manor Marussia was zoals al het hele seizoen de langzaamste in de kwalificatie. Coureurs Will Stevens en Roberto Mehri starten echter verder naar voren dan ze gewend zijn, vanwege de gridstraffen van andere coureurs. Het duo kijkt dan ook uit naar de race van morgen.

"De auto voelde erg goed aan vandaag. Ik ben blij dat ik sneller was dan Mehri. Het is altijd fijn om je teamgenoot te verslaan. Ik hoop dat we morgen samen een leuk gevecht kunnen hebben in de race", aldus Stevens over zijn kwalificatie.

Teamgenoot Roberto Mehri reed de langzaamste tijd in de kwalificatie, maar gaf niet veel toe op zijn teamgenoot: "Ik ben tevreden met mijn kwalificatie, maar had wellicht nog wat sneller gekund. Ik heb behoorlijk wat tijd verloren in de derde training vanwege een hydraulisch probleem. Hierdoor heb ik me niet optimaal kunnen voorbereiden op de kwalificatie. Toch gaf ik weinig toe op Will vandaag. In de ene sector was ik wat sneller in de andere was Will sneller".

Kijkend naar de race hopen beide coureurs de kleine verschillen om te kunnen zetten in een mooi onderling gevecht. Het verwachte wisselvallige weer in de race zou Manor kunnen helpen: "Er wordt voor morgen wisselvallig weer verwacht, eigenlijk een beetje zoals het ook in Silverstone was. Toen was het grotendeels droog, maar kregen we aan het einde van de race nog behoorlijk wat regen. Regen maakt het rijden hier moeilijker, maar biedt ons ook kansen die we normaal niet krijgen", besluit Will Stevens.
