Vettel doorbreekt stilte en kiest de kant van Ferrari

De strategie die Sebastian Vettel zondag tijdens de Belgische Grand Prix hanteerde was in samenspraak tussen Ferrari en de Duitser tot stand gekomen. Niets wees erop dat een één-stopper op Spa-Francorchamps riskant zou zijn. Anderhalve ronde voor het einde klapte echter de rechter achterband bij de viervoudig wereldkampioen.

Vettel was na afloop woedend op bandenleverancier Pirelli. Een paar dagen later doorbreekt hij de stilte. Hij is gekalmeerd, maar blijft bij zijn standpunt. "Om duidelijkheid te scheppen, het team en ik hebben samen voor deze strategie gekozen. Ik sta volledig achter het team en het team staat volledig achter mij. Dat maakt ons een team. De strategie was geen moment risicovol. Het team valt niets te verwijten."

Ferrari-teambaas Maurizio Arrivabene vult aan: "Wanneer we de strategie bepalen, doen we dat goed. De strategie met één stop was de juiste strategie voor ons, gebaseerd op alle data die we tot onze beschikking hadden. Natuurlijk is het dan teleurstellend als het zo afloopt. Het was een agressieve strategie, tot stand gekomen aan de hand van de data. We zijn niet zo stom of gek dat we een gokje te wagen met het materiaal. Wij hebben ons werk gedaan."

    Volgens Pirelli mag je geen eenstopper doen, dat houden hun banden niet uit.
    Reinste kul natuurlijk. Ferrari en ook Vettel hebben groot gelijk.

      Volledig met je eens. Pirelli doet of z'n neus bloed en begint direct naar Ferrari te wijzen om gezicht verlies te voorkomen. Hier mag Pirelli toch wel ff op de vingers getikt worden.

      Ik ben om. Zondag vond ik nog dat Vettel niet zo moest zeuren, maar ik ben het inmiddels met hem en Ferrari eens.

      Zonder "drop off" is het onacceptabel dat er meerdere klapbanden zijn in een weekend.
      Hij heeft er ook geen wing endplate van een andere auto mee afgereden.

      Het materiaal in de F1 is marginaal om zo veel mogelijk gewicht te besparen.
      Natuurlijk heeft Ferrari gelijk dat het niet mag gebeuren, maar het gebeurde wel.
      Daar zij allerlei mogelijkheden voor te verzinnen waarom het wel is gebeurd, maar wat de oorzaak precies is geweest zal moeilijk te achterhalen zijn.
      Onderdelen in de auto gaan ook wel eens stuk, terwijl dit normaal gesproken niet zou moeten gebeuren. Helaas is het bij Vettel wel gebeurd, maar ik blijf er bij dat ze wel een risico hebben genomen om 1 stop te maken.

      @M.Schumi :Die 40 ronden is een indicatie voor bijv. Hongarije maar niet voor het langste circuit Spa.

    Alle beter weters kunnen nu wel doen alsof ze het beter weten en zeggen dat het heel simpel is.. Ferrari, haar engineers en Vettel zijn echt niet zo dom. Zij beschikken over tonnen aan informatie en komen tot deze conclussie.. het ligt heel wat lastiger dan even Pirelli haar uitspraak erbij halen en klaar is Kees.

    Ferrari nam een gok en dat pakte verkeerd uit... Niets mis mee.. maar de manier waarom is belachelijk.. een band mag niet vanuit het niets exploderen.
