Video: De halo-cockpitbescherming van Mercedes

Door de dood van Justin Wilson is bescherming voor de cockpits weer onderwerp van gesprek in de autosport. De hoofden van de coureurs vormen nog altijd een kwetsbaar onderdeel. Mercedes bedacht eerder al een mogelijke oplossing, een hoepel boven de hoofden van de rijders, al snel omgedoopt tot 'halo'. Dat zou er dan ongeveer zo uit komen te zien.

    Wat een lelijk futuristisch ding..
    Ik vraag me ook af in geval van nood of een coureur het geheel zo snel en makkelijk los gekoppeld en omhoog krijgt.

    als er een veer afbreekt , zoals bij button toen die massa kopte, zal deze halo weinig uithalen.

      het zal de risico's kleiner maken, iets groots als een wiel zal die ring wel raken, een kleiner onderdeel kan net zo goed langs die staande rug schieten die we voor het vizier van de rijder zien, een ongeval zoals bij Massa sluit je volgens mij hiermee niet helemaal uit

    Misschien moeten ze gewoon eens kijken naar de materialen die ze gebruiken en kijken of die niet te makkelijk losraken.
    Ze hebben toen de banden beter gemaakt doordat ze minder makkelijk van de auto losraken in geval van een crash dus moet toch ook met andere onderdelen kunnen lijkt me.

    Buiten het feit hoe het er uit ziet, had dit de levens van Wilson en Bianchi niet gered, en ook het voorval met Massa, niet voorkomen vrees ik.

    Gaat nergens over dit. Als coureur zou ik afgeleid zijn en me ergeren aan het middenstuk waar je dus de hele tijd tegenaan zit/ligt te kijken.
    Maak het dan gewoon helemaal dicht met speciaal glas en geef de coureurs een schietstoel met parachute.

    IK blijf het niets vinden! Hoe vaak gebeurt het dat de coureur iets tegen z'n hoofd krijgt?
    Dan kun je de motor GP ook wel voorzien van een scherm a la de BMW c1.Volslagen idioot!!

    T ziet er niet uit, vraag me af of dit voldoende veiligheid geeft, en las net ook al VWTUNE die zei: als coureur zo ik afgeleid zijn en die mening deel ik ook, als je 300 + rijd moet je geen tierelantijn voor je zicht hebben!

    Hmm, lijkt op zo'n rolbeugel die je op de kermis ook ziet, in zo'n achtbaan karretje of zo.
    En je krijgt er ook Space Invader geweren bij aan het geluid te horen in de video ;)
    Wellicht wordt het ook aerodynamisch een voordeeltje trouwens........:)
    Maar ff serieus, ik zie meer bezwaren dan voordelen van zo'n ding voor je snufferd.
