Oud Formule 1-coureur Eric Thompson overleden

Oud Formule 1-coureur Eric Thompson is op 95-jarige leeftijd overleden. De Brit kwam maar in één Grand Prix in actie. In 1952 verscheen hij in een Connaught aan de start bij de Grand Prix van Groot-Brittannië op Silverstone. Thompson eindigde als vijfde.

Meer succes had hij in de lange afstands-racerij. Thompson mocht in 1951 naar het podium na de 24 uur van Le Mans, waarin hij als derde was gefinisht. In 1953 schreef hij de 9 uur van Goodwood op zijn naam met teamgenoot Reg Parnell.
