Renault plant mogelijk dubbele motorenwissel in Monza

Daniel Ricciardo, Daniil Kvyat en Carlos Sainz krijgen na de kwalificatie van morgen mogelijk met nog een motorenwissel te maken. De coureurs hebben allen een nieuwe Renault-motor in hun bolide dit weekend, maar mogelijk hanteert Renault dezelfde tactiek als McLaren toepaste op Spa-Francorchamps. Sinds de Grand Prix van Oostenrijk krijgen coureurs geen straf meer in de race voor een motorenwissel en dit stelt de teams in staat de motoren uit tactische overwegingen te wisselen.

Met de dubbele motorenwissel hoopt Renault haar teams uit te kunnen rusten met goede componenten voor de rest van het seizoen. Renault maakte voor de trainingen al bekend de motoren uit tactische overwegingen te wisselen om zo in Singapore niet in de problemen te komen. Mogelijk wordt de wissel ook toegepast omdat Renault heeft aangekondigd een verbeterde versie van de motor pas in Austin te introduceren, in plaats van de eerder aangekondigde introductie bij de Grand Prix van Rusland. Met de dubbele motorenwissel hebben zowel Red Bull als Toro Rosso extra elementen die ze kunnen inzetten in Singapore, Japan en Rusland.

In theorie betekent de dubbele wissel dat er genoeg onderdelen zijn om verdere straffen gedurende het seizoen te voorkomen, zeker als Red Bull en Toro Rosso samen met Renault besluiten de verbeterde versie van de motor niet in te zetten aan het einde van het seizoen. Renault over de gekozen tactiek: "De reden voor onze keuze is dat we het seizoen willen eindigen zonder extra motorenwissels. Vanaf morgen zouden we geen problemen meer moeten hebben en zouden de teams niet meer motoren nodig moeten hebben. We hebben in overleg met de teams gekozen om het hier te doen, omdat er circuits aankomen waar we meer competitief zijn en we onze coureurs de rest van het seizoen niet met straffen willen confronteren."

Afgaande op die laatste alinea komt er dus helemaal geen upgrade meer dit jaar, of interpreteer ik het dan verkeerd?

WTF hebben die Fransen het hele jaar zitten doen vraag ik me dan af..

  Renault had maar 1 motor bij zich en had kennelijk geen zin om er nog één op te halen uit de fabriek. Was vanuit Spa wel mogelijk geweest.

Ik lees dat als RBR en Renault uit elkaar gaan Red Bull heeft gezegd, bekijk het die laatste races maar, wij gaan de nieuwe motoren niet kopen en jullie niet van gratis data voorzien of zulk iets.

Maar als RBR in de laatste 4 races nog 4 maal om het podium kunnen strijden kiezen ze volgens mij voor het podium. Het seizoen is verloren, maar nog enkele podiums of een overwinning op het eind kan nog veel goedmaken.

Denk dat het nu wel steeds duidelijker wordt dat Renault de 12 tokens die ze nog hebben willen gebruiken in de motor voor volgend jaar zodat ze deze achterin de nu nog Lotus kunnen lepelen en er zelf het voordeel van kunnen hebben
