Sterk resultaat in Monza voor Williams

Het team van Williams vertrekt met een goed gevoel uit Italië. De Britse renstal was het hele weekend sterk op Monza en Felipe Massa mocht voor de tweede keer dit seizoen naar het podium. Teamgenoot Valtteri Bottas drong in de slotfase nog aan bij Massa, maar kwam de Braziliaan niet voorbij en eindigde als vierde.

Beide Williams-coureurs kenden een goede start waarbij Nico Rosberg werd verschalkt. Rosberg ging eerder naar binnen dan Massa en Bottas en wist op die manier voorbij te komen aan de beide Williams-coureurs. Na het uitvallen van Rosberg in de slotfase lagen Massa en Bottas weer derde en vierde.

Massa over zijn race: "Bij de start kwam ik niet heel goed weg, maar wist toch nog wat plekjes te pakken. Helaas verloren we bij de eerste stop onze posities aan Rosberg. Bovendien werkte mijn vroegere stop niet in het voordeel ten opzichte van mijn teamgenoot. Hij kwam nog erg dichtbij, ik heb er alles aan gedaan om derde te worden en dat is gelukt. Ik ben erg blij voor mezelf en het team. We hebben weer waardevolle punten gescoord en lopen uit ten opzichte van Red Bull in het kampioenschap. Op het podium staan in Monza is altijd bijzonder. Ik dank het team voor hun inspanningen."

Valtteri Bottas probeerde alles om Massa voorbij te komen in de slotfase, maar had volgens eigen zeggen wat problemen in de laatste ronde. "Ik had de banden en remmen wat gespaard, hierdoor ik in de slotfase dichter bij Felipe komen. Helaas had ik wat problemen in de laatste ronde, waardoor ik hem niet meer kon pakken. We moeten uitzoeken waar de problemen vandaan kwamen. Ik wel wel blij dat wel als team weer veel punten hebben gescoord", aldus Bottas over zijn race.

  3de plaats bij constructeurs verstevigd, en Massa Kimi voor bij.

Meer geluk dan wijsheid volgens mij. Rosberg reed voor de stop achter beide Williams en na de stops ervoor. Zoiets zou niet mogen gebeuren.

  En nee, de Mercedes is in de basis een klap sneller. Op de baan kon Rosberg de Williams van Bottas niet voorbij. Met de stop wel (en pakt hij ook meteen Massa). Mercedes stop was bijna een seconde sneller en een fast outlap en je bent de Williams gewoon voorbij. Op dit soort banen rijdt de Williams steeds in niemandsland. De langzaam voor de Mercedes en Ferrari, te snel voor de rest

En talent Bottas wederom verslagen door de 'oude' Massa. Eerstgenoemde mag blij zijn met zijn contractverlenging. Hij laat het in 2015 niet bepaald zien, volgend jaar moet hij echt afrekenen met Felipe.
