Optimisme over Formule 1-toekomst op Monza

Bernie Ecclestone en de organisatie van de Italiaanse Grand Prix klinken optimistisch over de Formule 1-toekomst op het circuit van Monza na een weekend vol vergaderingen. Het belang van de historische baan voor coureurs, fans en de sport zelf staat buiten kijf.

Ecclestone houdt echter vast aan zijn financiële eisen, maar zelfs de commerciële baas van de Formule 1 ziet het nu rooskleurig in. "Ik weet zeker dat we tot een overeenkomst kunnen komen", citeert Reuters de Brit.

Ook vanuit Italië louter positieve geluiden. Roberto Maroni, president van de regio Lombardije, schat de kans op contractverlenging voor Monza in op 99,9 procent. "Als het nodig is, zal de overheid zich in de debatten mengen", zegt hij in Gazzetta dello Sport.

De Italianen moeten nog wel wat hindernissen nemen voordat een nieuw akkoord een feit is. Zo zal Ecclestone geen water bij de wijn doen wat betreft de financiële voorwaarden. "Ik weet zeker dat we het geld ergens vandaan halen", aldus Giovanni Malago, voorzitter van het Italiaans Olympisch Comité.

Er is voor het organiseren van een F1 race geen gezonde businesscase te schrijven en dus moeten (lokale-) overheden financieel flink bijspringen.
In een democratie hebben die overheden verantwoording af te leggen aan de belastingbetaler. Een probleem dat in de meeste 'nieuwe landen' geen issue is... [Lees verder]

      Ja, de race is vaak niet bijster spannend, maar gelukkig wel snel voorbij.
      Maar ja, de historie maakt het voor velen weer veel goed.
      Ik zie liever Imola terugkeren op de kalender, maar dat is persoonlijk.

      was ook sarcastisch bedoeld, na die slaapverwekkende optocht die we net achter de rug hebben.

      Historie is voor mij best belangrijk en ik hoop dat Monza op de kalender blijft. Imola zie ik daarnaast ook graag terugkeren, vond ik altijd een mooie baan.
      Bovendien een goede sfeer en een extra Ferrari thuisrace ;)

      Ze hebben misschien niet de boeiendste race maar wel het beste publiek!
      Ik ben er dit weekend geweest, die mensen gaan helemaal uit hun dak, schitterend!

    Dus historische teams krijgen wel geld van Bernie maar historische circuits krijgen geen korting.. Wat een onzin zeg, de Formule 1 kan eerder zonder Renault dan zonder Spa-Francorchamps of Monza als je het mij vraagt.

      Dus jij bent van mening dat Monza en Spa-Francorchamps evenveel moeten betalen als elke willekeurige race in een oliestaatje etc? :-P

      Ja maar hoeveel dat dan moet zijn is een goeie ;) Ik ben over het algemeen van mening dat alles moet kosten wat het waard is en niet wat de gek er voor geeft, dus de materiele kosten + de kosten die een persoon er aan maakt.

      Dat ben ik met je eens, wellicht een staffel met % aan kortingen. Een vaste prijs om een race te organiseren, maar hoe vaker je de race hebt georganiseerd hoe hoger de korting, startende na 10 jaar organiseren.

      Dus stel een circuit heeft de race 10 jaar gehuisvest, dan begint de korting staffel
      10 - 20 jaar - 10% korting
      20 - 30 jaar - 20% korting
      30 - 40 jaar - 30% korting
      40+ - 35% korting

      Iets in die richting lijkt mij wel eerlijk toch?

      Ecclestone ziet dat anders. Voor elk jaar dat je het privilege krijgt (koopt) om een F1 race te mogen organiseren gaan de kosten met 10% omhoog.

      Serieus, elk jaar weer 10% erop.

      Yep, je hebt daar een punt, want wat wij zien met Spa sinds jaren is een verlieslatend balans jaar na jaar, bij ons komt de Waalse regio telkens tussen om de verliezen aan te zuiveren want het gaat om veel meer dan het evenement zelf, de ganse streek plukt hier vruchten uit, HORECA-sector, souvenier winkeltjes, attracties, enz... Meer dan 5000 man aan het werk tijdens het week-end en dat weegt niet op met de geringe verliezen met name +/- 7000 mio

    Lol, dus die "onderhandelingen" komen er op neer dat de Italianen gewoon door de knieen gaan en het bedrag wat Ecllestone eist volledig betalen.
