Sutil met zwaar gemoed terug op plek des onheils

Adrian Sutil loopt dit weekend ook rond in Suzuka tijdens het Grand Prix-weekend in Japan. Niet als racecoureur, maar als reserve van Williams. De Duitser zal met zijn gedachten nog wel even terug gaan naar de akelige gebeurtenissen van twaalf maanden geleden. Jules Bianchi klapte vol op een bergingsvoertuig dat net de auto van Sutil aan het opruimen was en raakte zwaar gewond.

Na driekwart jaar in coma overleed Bianchi in juli van dit jaar aan zijn verwondingen. Sutil was ooggetuige van de crash. "Dat soort momenten verandert je leven wel een beetje", bekende de Duitser aan persbureau DPA. "Helemaal als het de eerste keer is dat je een ernstig ongeluk van dichtbij meemaakt. Het duurde wel even voordat dat beeld uit mijn hoofd verdwenen was."

"Ik zeg niet dat het een permanente shock was, maar het heeft wel mijn ogen geopend voor wat wij als coureurs allemaal doen. Terugkeren naar Suzuka, naar de plek des onheils, geeft toch wel een ander gevoel. Niet alleen voor mij, maar voor iedereen die direct of indirect betrokken was." De organisatie in Japan heeft in de bocht waar Bianchi crashte nu een grote kraan geplaatst.

Vindt er eigenlijk een herdenking plaats op het circuit? Is er bij de bocht een voor toeschouwers toegankelijke plek waar een gedenkteken is opgericht?

Suzuka zal vanaf nu altijd een zwart hoofdstuk kennen, en er zal vast vaak nagepraat worden over deze situatie

Vindt er eigenlijk een herdenking plaats op het circuit? Is er bij de bocht een voor toeschouwers toegankelijke plek waar een gedenkteken is opgericht?

  Ik denk ook dat er extra hard wordt opgetreden tegen elke overtreding van de regels, net zoals op de Hongaroring.

Het zal waarschijnlijk nooit meer gebeuren daar ze die tractors nu verbannen hebben langszij de baan, maar er moet bekend worden dat Jules zo ongeveer de grootste pech had die men kan inbeelden om te crashen op identiek dezelfde plaats als Sutil, had hij 1 meter meer naar links of rechts geknald had hij er waarschijnlijk enkel met de schrik uitgestapt...
Jammer het was een top piloot. RIP jules

  Dat is helemaal niet zo vreemd en gebeurde in de geschiedenis al veel keren. Bianchi had gewoon de pech wél die tractor te raken tegen een hoge snelheid.
