Mercedes neemt dreiging Ferrari uiterst serieus

Het team van Mercedes is er niet gerust op na de Grand Prix van Singapore. De Duitse renstal was op het stratencircuit in geen velden of wegen te bekennen in de voorhoede en moest Ferrari en Red Bull Racing voor zich dulden. Vooral dat Ferrari zo sterk was heeft Mercedes op scherp gezet. Want Sebastian Vettel is niet ver weg in het kampioenschap en blijft een outsider voor de titel.

Mercedes-coureur Nico Rosberg: "Ferrari en Vettel vormen een bedreiging voor ons en we nemen ze uiterst serieus. Ze hebben dit jaar bij meerdere races aangetoond dat we niet om ze heen kunnen." De Duitser staat in het kampioenschap 41 punten achter op teamgenoot Lewis Hamilton, maar zijn voorsprong op Vettel bedraagt nog maar acht puntjes.

Hamilton voegt toe: "Hoe serieus ik de dreiging van Ferrari en Vettel neem, is sinds Maleisië niet veranderd. We zijn ons al het hele seizoen bewust van die dreiging. Ik kan niet zeggen welke oplossingen het team bedacht heeft na het weekend in Singapore, maar het zijn er veel. Het geloof is dat een van de gevonden oorzaken een domino-effect had en onze situatie verergerde. Ik heb vertrouwen dat de situatie nu onder controle is, al zal het team het in de gaten blijven houden."
