‘Renault maakt overname volgende week bekend’

Aan het lange wachten over de overname van Lotus door Renault in de Formule 1 lijkt volgende week een einde te komen. Aan de BBC gaf Matthew Carter, de CEO van Lotus, toe dat de toekomst er positief uitziet voor het team uit Enstone. Renault zal ergens volgende week een persconferentie beleggen.

“We hebben vertrouwen dat volgende week er weer een positieve draai komt voor ons team. In ieder geval ziet het er voor ons een stuk beter uit dan de afgelopen weken”, aldus Carter.

Het team van Lotus kan dit nieuws ook wel gebruiken. Het team had grote problemen met betalingen. Lotus heeft dit weekend zelfs niet eens een hospitality unit door betalingsachterstanden.

Carter legt daarover uit: “Begin dit seizoen heeft Renault interesse in ons getoond. Toen de onderhandelingen sterker werden, heeft Renault ons gevraagd geen nieuwe contracten te ondertekenen. Dit was ongeveer in mei of juni, en daardoor zijn daarna problemen ontstaan”.

    Moet ook wel volgende week, want de Engelse rechter heeft Lotus geen maand uitstel verleend maar slechts een week en die loopt volgende week af.

    Red bull gaat geen honderden miljoenen euro`s investeren als ze bijvoorbaat niet om de prijzen kunnen strijden. dus de bal licht bij ferrari. Hun belang moet secundair zijn om rbr en tr te behouden voor f1. Politiek is inherent in de f1. Maar de euro`s zijn voor een bedrijf als Red bull doorslaggevend.

    Ik hoop voor de mannen van Lotus dat er snel een eind aan deze onzekere periode komt.
    Kunnen ze weer gewoon een broodje in hun eigen hospitality unit eten.
