Raikkonen: "Ferrari zelf verrast door goede vorm"

Het team van Ferrari verbaast zichzelf met de recente topvorm. Dat stelt coureur Kimi Raikkonen. De Scuderia won in Singapore en moest in Japan weer Mercedes voor zich dulden. Maar de manier waarop het team de druk op de ketel hield bij Mercedes op een circuit dat niet ideaal is voor de Ferrari, is door iedereen in Maranello met gejuich ontvangen.

Raikkonen: "De banden zijn voor iedere deelnemer hetzelfde en het is voor ons zaak om het rubber aan de praat te krijgen. Op bepaalde circuits hebben we daar met de hardere compounds wat meer moeite mee, dan weten we dat we een lastig weekend tegemoet gaan. Maar we verbazen onszelf met onze goede vorm. In Monza hielden we rekening met een moeizaam weekend en daar ging het goed. En ook op Suzuka, niet heel gunstig voor ons, ging het niet slecht."

"Het toont aan dat we goed bezig zijn en het pakket verbeteren. We blijven eraan werken en we weten wat onze zwakke plekken zijn. We zijn alleen beperkt in wat we nog kunnen veranderen dit jaar. Ik ben ervan overtuigd dat we het geheel beetje bij beetje verder verbeteren en volgend jaar zullen we in een nog betere vorm steken."
